Eminem Speaks On Near Death Experience In “How To Make Money Selling Drugs”

In the Matthew Cooke-directed documentary, How To Make Money Selling Drugs, noted Detroit emcee Eminem was in rare form as he spoke on his past addiction to the pain reliever Vicodin in a two-minute video clip from the film.

The Recovery rapper, who confessed to consuming close to 20 Vicodin, Ambien and Valium pills in the span of one day in a 2009 interview with Vibe magazine, touched on the moment he was first introduced to Vicodin and the mellowness that followed.

“When I took my first Vicodin, it was like this feeling of ‘ahh.’ Like everything was not only mellow, but didn’t feel any pain,” Eminem revealed. “It just kind of numbed things…I don’t know at what point exactly it started to be a problem. I just remember liking it more and more. People tried to tell me that I had a problem. I would say, ‘Get that fuckin person outta here. I can’t believe they said that shit to me.’ They knew nothing about my fuckin life. Are they out of their fuckin mind? I’m not out there shooting heroine. I’m not fucking out there putting coke up my nose. I’m not smoking crack.”

Eminem’s addiction to the drug took a turn for the worse when the rapper found himself in the hospital, an experience he also detailed in Cooke’s documentary.

“Had I have got to the hospital about two hours later, I would have died. My organs were shutting down. My liver, kidneys, everything. They were gonna have to put me on dialysis. They didn’t think I was gonna make it. My bottom was gonna be death,” said the rapper.

How To Make Money Selling Drugs was released in the United States on April 25 by Bert Marcus Productions, and includes appearances from 50 Cent, Russell Simmons, Freeway Ricky Ross, and more.

    2. Eminem is a sellout and MMLP is a Pop album, if Tha Carter 3 and MMLP came out the same week C3 would outsell it.

      1. you are on crack Lil Wayne would never outsell marshall ever. C3 cant touch Marshall Mathers LP go back to school kid.

      2. Wait sorry Im a fuckin idiot – of course it wouldn’t out sell it. MMLP was one of the most inventive rap albums of our life time. Plus it had the entire white youth market behind it…so there is literally no way any other rap album would out sell it…

      3. Sorry thats a shark ass nigga using my name, MMLP was a materialistic pop rap album and wouldnt sell under todays climate.

      4. Everything you say, Bobyahead, is a lie. WHta you said about Eminem describes Wayne. Wayne is a sellout. Carter 3 is a materialistic pop rap album. Marshall Mathers LP would sell under today’s climate. If MMLP and C3 came out in the same week, MMLP would outsell C3.

        1.8 million>1.3 million

      5. the cater 3 was trash the carter two was weezy’s only good album and lyric wise couldnt touch mmlp biotch

      7. You YMCMB haters are fucking idiots. Because I’m an accountant for Cash Money Records, I spend a lot of time with Birdman. What some of you may not know is Michael Jackson was planning on signing to YMCMB at the time of his death. He had even changed his stage name to Mic Jackin. He was planning on releasing 2 Major albums of hard hitting Trap shit, one a collaborative album with Lil Wayne titled Trap Kids. Since Michael’s demise Cash Money records have actually teamed up with NASA and are creating a Global headquarters in Space and on the Moon. The reason for this is to create a new genre of hiphop called “Zero Gravity Rap”. Lil Wayne was hospitalized because during his first zero gravity rap training session he rapped so hard he created a Blackhole that nearly engulfed him. The universe was not ready for his talent so it tried to take him, luckily all it got was his chain and a couple of Big Mac vouchers. All you haters are gonna be sorry soon YMCMB will be so big it will have its own gravitational pull meaning you will be drawn into it no matter what you do.

    3. “How To Make Money Selling Drugs”

Rick Ross said in a interview on youtube he made 10 mill before rap so i wanna hear what he has to say about How To Make Money Selling Drugs

      1. Rick Ross is an expert about “How To Make Money TALKING ABOUT Selling Drugs”. Big difference. Dude has no credibility so anything he’s saying is automatically invalid.

    4. I would greatly appreciate if you people take a moment out of your time to praise and appreeciate the god of trap the saviour of gangster rap Gucci Mane. WOOP

    5. Can all the people below with negative comments get their heads check? Their whole thought-process is off. If Eminem lost all his motor and communicating skills, then reasonably, one could easily conceive the belief that it would take Eminem at least 5 years from coming back from his relapse to return to Slim-Shady Skill status. Though I believe he has a different set of skills that he’s never used before on his next album that’ll astonish most of us, I believe he could almost completely be the old slim shady if he wanted, but simply, he’s looking to be a better slim shady. Not so much recreating as he is finding a new angle.

      1. shut up you sensitive little cunt drugs are good for eminem he made his best music on drugs now he sucks

      2. I don’t think he could. Now that’s he clean, and older, he probably looks back at alot of that early stuff and the beefs and shakes his head as if he could back and do it all over he would have just focused on the music.

      3. @Anonymous I think he could. Believe it or not he was mostly clean during the recording of the Slim Shady LP, he wasn’t doing as much drugs and experimenting until the MMLP. Not to say that he didn’t experiment a little before then, but most of recording was more sober than anything afterwards, at least until Relapse.

    6. So glad he got himself back together. For his own health, but also because his music is the best ever.

    7. So every song with $$ or bitches in the title is more appealing and lyrical than slims stuff?? wow I cant believe how brainwashed ppl have become it is literally a shame

    8. i think its dope to see Em back being healthy. fuck music. were pretty selfish to rather him and his fam be all fucked up just cuz we want some shady. lol anyways think about the famous ppl that have overdosed and past away cuz of their fame. em surpassed that. dont care what he does now hes a fuckin legend. period!!

    9. slim shady, brain dead like jim brady

im glad the word is out, but a little late on that shit

    11. why would eminem take 20 vike’s when he could of just taken a few oxy’s? (when they were available.) Swallowing 20 pills would be a pain. No pun intended lol

      1. of course how else would we get our weekly scoop on Wayne, Drake, Rick Ross and of course the lovely Nicki Minaj………….fuck HipHopDX on the real

    13. Em is easily the GOAT. Not Pac, not Biggie, not Jay, not Nas, not Wayne, not some flash in the pan never has been like Lupe, Mos Def or Common, not some overhyped fag like Drake or 2 Chains. It is all Em.

Especially his Slim Shady persona. I have NEVER been so mesmerized by a rapper as I have Em. He is the most relatable rapper ever and he raps about shit all these other lame rappers rap about. Em has rapped about pedophilia, incest, murder, rape, domestic violence, his mom, his dad, his kid, his drug habit. The dude is an all around master.

He also has a flow that has been mimicked but never topped. He has NEVER been outdone on a song with features. He bodied EVERY single rapper he’s ever beefed with. He has outsold EVERY rapper by at least 50 million. Em can literally do no wrong. Oh how can I forget his perfect candance, his dexterity, his untouched lyrical ability. There will never be another Eminem and there will never be a rapper to touch in any way shape or form. And you hater NEED to accept it

      1. Lemme guess.. your a 14 year old white kid from Malibu.

        Songs about farts…yes..hes the best.

      2. why do you feel the need to defend em on this article? it has nothing to do with anything.. get his dick out of your mouth..

      3. So sales mean good music? You must listen to Bieber, Lady GAGA, Katy Perry, Lil Wayne, LMFAO, Usher… LOL… are they the GOAT 2?

        add on whinebook @ thachronicizback

      4. nigga fuck eminem. he a sellout cause he sold his soul to tha devil for fortune, money and fame. just like 98% of the mainstream rappers.

they all fake, FUCK em all.

        UNDERGROUND FOR MUTHAFUCKIN LIFE

      5. I agree that Eminem is the greatest ever. There may not be one “rap” category that anyone in better than him at.

BUT…Mos Def and Common are definitely NOT “never has been”. And especially not Lupe. Mighty Mos and Common both have classic albums to their names (Be being one of my top 5), and Lupe is every bit as mesmerizing as Eminem was/still is.

    14. It’s a good documentary… can be found on you tube in it’s entirety.. 50 is in it…the real Rick Ross (not the jail guard) and a few others… check it out. Eminem is only in it for a few minutes towards the end.

    15. …..MAKES U THINK A LIL BIT……HERE’S A GUY WHO DID ALL THOSE CRAZY PARTY DRUGS (WEED (DUH),ACID, SHROOM, HELL MAYBE SHERM TOO) WHILE SPITTIN SOME OF THE ILLEST BARS OF HIS LIFE…….AS SOON AS HE GOES TO PRESCRIPTION SHIT………HE NEARLY DIES AND LOSES ALOT OF THE ATTRIBUTES THAT MADE HIM A LEGEND (TO ME AT LEAST…….I HATE HIS “FAST FLOW”, RAPPING ACCENT, AND SUB-PAR PUNCH LINES WHEN HE TRYING TO BE FUNNY)

……..STILL LOVE HIS PERSONAL TRACKS THO, AND BAD MEETS EVILS ALBUM(NOT RECOVERY) SHOWS ME THAT HE CAN STILL BRING FIRE…..

……DONT WANT THE DUDE TO RELAPSE….BUT I WOULD LOVE THIS GUY TO TAKE SOME WEAK ACID, PUFF SOME GOOD DRO, AND BE LOCKED IN HIS STUDIO TO SEE WHAT HE COMES UP WITH…….

    16. This stupid website is like a haven for morons to hate on Em. Sure Em isn’t the same guy as he was back in 1999-2003, but c’mon.

Tell me he didn’t spit dope shit on Underground, Drop the Bomb On Em, Pyscho, Forever, Drop the World, On Fire, Seduction, No Love, Cinderella Man, Untitled, Ridaz, Session One, Welcome 2 Hell, Fast Lane, Above the Law, Loud Noises, Echo, etc.

I mean c’mon. Listen to the wordplay, it’s as sharp and on point as ever. He’s not prime anymore, but he’s still the best rapper bar for bar, alive right now, along with Nas.

My only beef with some of Em’s new shit is he’s overly aggressive with his flow at times. If he cooled it down and spit with the same volume as he did on Ridaz, On Fire, Our House, Seduction, Psycho, Welcome 2 Hell, I honestly don’t think anyone could have anything to bitch about anymore. But I do think it’s funny people act like older Eminem never shouted or was loud.

His flow has changed a bit, but he’s fucking 40 years old now. He’s been in the game for 15 years. It’s natural. He’s still dope and still out spits anyone bar for bar.

I really hope he could hope on a track with young guns like Kendrick, Cole, and than get a track with Nas done finally, and out shine them like he usually does on features.

      1. Agreed.

He is the dopest MC in the game right now. Bring in the best rappers in the game, line them up. Eminem can delivery better raps than any of them on their best days.

        True story.

      2. Nas would slash eminem into pieces, sweep up the pieces feed them to the dogs, then collect the shit & smear it in his haileys face. Nas is far better then overrated Eminem

    17. eminem TALKS ABOUT KILLING HIMSELF and RAPING WOMEN and killing chopping up woman AND KIDS and BEING A PEDOPHILE, EMINEM is trash just like BEIBER IS TRASH but the white population refuse’s to let them go trying to make them more than what they are… All he does is goes to the studio makes songs and dissing people from his studio then cries about how people hate him because he is white…He is trash just like his label…And trust me im far from a “hater’….

      1. You must wear a bike helmet in your spare time. Have you listened to any of the songs? Or did you not get the chance because your mommy and daddy wouldn’t let you get the albums? He says those things to fire moron’s like you up…PUSSY

      2. You ARE a hater, and a maggot at that. He doesnt complain that people hate him and if you ever listened to his music you would know he TRYS to make people hate him because he likes it. He has fun making people mad, and as for hanging on to him , everybody knows hes the greatest rapper alive. So lol2u. Eminem is your favorite rappers, favorite rapper.

    18. Only ex-girlfriends complain about how someone has changed and is no longer the “older” them. Y’all bitches, angry ex-girlfriends, case closed.

      1. Exactly you kids need to get on the roids you have to much estrogen coursing through you bodys .

    19. I’m glad he’s sober now and kicked the habit. At one point, I wanted him back on drugs because his best songs were when he was on drugs. Just do me a favor Em, stop yelling over your tracks. Your flow will always overtake anything.

    20. most of these rappers aint real niggas. Word, Nas bankrupt never was a drug runner, Lil Wayne aint no blood, Jeezy aint no BMF, 50 a snitch, Game a stripper, Em was gay. None of these niggas real you guys. If they was all real they all be dead now. Like it or not Ross is the new biggie.

      BAWSE!!!!

      1. how long have you been posting this bullshit comment? i swear it’s been like a year or something now

      2. seems like he been posting that one for 2 year trying to discredit other rappers because his fav rapper is the biggest fraud in rap

    21. least they didnt interview the fake former CO rick ross about seling drugs, he wouldve no doubt lied, exaggerated and embellished the facts as per

    22. dude is fucking rich and does only complain how his life sucks. we know that you just drugs stop the bullshit

    23. EMINEM FUCKED UP HIS MIND WITH DRUGS AND THE FUCKING DEMONS THAT POSSESS HIS MIND AND BODY..THAT MOTHERFUCKER COULD BE STILL DOPE BUT HE GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OOUT MAN!!(KO OUT OF THE GAME IM SAYING)

      1. man, you told him. couldn’t agree more.

and it’s not like he’s based literally half of all his music’s lyrics in the past eighteen years telling off that exact criticism,’cause that would be pretty fucking embarrassing for everyone and you.

    24. He’s always so sad now — it’s depressing. You would think he would be more cheery with all the success he’s had, but that proves money doesn’t bring happiness.

Jay-Z always looks like he’s loving life.

    25. ill wait till the album comes

but im pretty sure ems going to base his sound off of Symphony In H

      pretty sure he fell off
