Eminem Speaks On How Ice Cube Helped His Transition Into Acting

Eminem has held it down on the big screen as B-Rabbit in 8 Mile, but he didn’t make the transition from rapper to actor entirely on his own. The Detroit, Michigan native recalls getting some advice from Ice Cube that made his first appearances on the big screen go smoothly.

“I think Ice Cube said this one time; I think I heard him say this one time,” Em told MTV News’ Sway. “If you can rap, if you can perform to the camera for singing and videos, it should be a pretty, fairly natural transition. I felt like having heard him say that was like, ‘Oh, this may be fairly easy’ — and it wasn’t.

Instead, Em was surprised by how difficult it was compared to his experiences in music. “It’s a whole different thing, because you may be used to performing to the camera, but it’s a whole different ball game when the music is off and you have lines that you need to say,” he continued. “It takes a minute to get used to.”

Em will explain more on his acting career with an appearance on MTV’s “RapFix Live,” which will stream on MTV.com on Wednesday at 4 p.m. EST.

      1. CUBE IS IN A WHOLE DIFFERENT LEAGUE TO EMINEM

CUBES A PIONEER IN HIP HOP Em isnt…

CUBE HAS 4 FLAWLESS ALBUMS IN A ROW, EM DOESNT

      2. Since when does sales have anything to do with an album being good or not? Cube may not have a diamond album, but there would be no Eminem without him

    1. They still askin’ Em about 8 Mile? lol. While that’s cool and all, I don’t see why they should keep talking about it unless he’s coming up with some new shit finally. Movie came out 9 years ago! smh.

    2. Yah, hopefully Em doesnt get into the Disney flicks like Ice Cube. Those are just fucking horrible. Still got love for Cube tho, Friday’s were all classic and Death Certificate one of my favorite albums ever.

    3. ‘transition into acting’

he’s been in, what, two movies? One of them was a cameo. It’s not like he’s in movies left and right…..

    4. Did I read this wrong? The headline says Ice gave Em some helpful advice, but in the article he says he “thought he heard him say it” one time, and that it ended up being bullshit anyway. This article is funny.

    5. Another rapper in acting. it’s bad enough it’s just a quick cash scheme closely resembling an MLM pyramid scheme. 50 cent and Eminem can’t really act. Mos Def did quite well. forgot he was a rapper too. oh well, back to watching old movies and listening to old music that are better than this crap
