Eminem Better Than Biggie Lyrically, Lady Luck Says

During an interview with Vlad TV, Englewood, New Jersey rapper Lady Luck revisited comments she made about The Notorious B.I.G. and Eminem, during a radio interview in 2011. According to Vlad TV interviewer Star, Lady Luck stated that “Eminem is better than Big,” during an interview on The Star And Buc Wild Show years ago.

Lady Luck went on to defend her comments, stating that she “was speaking from a lyrical standpoint” with her remarks about the two rappers. She clarified that she didn’t label Eminem the better rapper or better emcee, but did confirm that Em would be her choice as the most lyrical.

“I was speaking from a lyrical standpoint,” Lady Luck said. “I was speaking about how vast Eminem’s subject matter is. And he has mastered the English language. So, as far as Biggie is concerned, Biggie’s music reached a certain amount of people. And his stories—I loved his stories. I didn’t say a better rapper or a better emcee, but lyrically. If I found an Eminem notebook and I found a Biggie notebook, I would be blown away more [by Eminem]…Of course, we heard their voice. So, Biggie could kill a beat way better than Eminem on certain things…Different strokes for different folks.”

The rapper then spoke on battle rap while speaking on being lyrical, but not always having the right delivery.

“I’m not confusing anybody,” she said. “If we’re rappers and we’re sitting here, the way you put your shit together—Just like some of these rappers in the battle league. They be saying hot lines, but the way they give it to the people. The way they deliver it it may not be taken the way it’s supposed to be taken. So, I’m saying the way he puts his words together, his metaphors, his lines, I feel like is better than what Biggie did at the time.”

    1. ready for all the biased opinions…biggie lovers going to ride his dick and eminem stan the same, but fact is Lyrically eminem is way above and beyond biggie as far as being a lyricist is concerned, his formula and how he mastered all forms of being an emcee, he does things only a few can.

now for the haters to catch the bate.

    2. I second that. Its just funny how she has to add a disclaimer though “better lyricist, not better emcee” lol…. What makes a good mc? come on man… people mustnt feel forced to agree wth the notion that nobody is allowed to be better than Biggie…Em is sicker to be fair… and will probably never ever be given his due props cause hes white..

      1. it’s his fans, nobody wants to deal with their covert racism. Way too many in the community have given Eminem his props. Beastie Boys have zero problems getting props. Speak Eminem’s name and the clown car comes out and true Hip Hop lovers distance themselves. Not a secret.

    3. Em is a weirdo who talks about raping woman and killing his family only crazy white people are into that shit

      1. “I’m using rubbers so they won’t trace the semen
The black demon, got the little hookers screaming
Because you know I love it young, fresh and green
with no hair in between, know what I mean?”

Apparently biggie is a crazy white person

    4. Eminem isn’t lyrical and neither is Biggie. Nas is lyrical, Ghostface is lyrical. Those other dudes have basic ABC lyrics. Eminem hides the fact that he has simplistic lyrics with shouting, rapping fast and trying to fit as many syllables into a bar as he can. That’s not lyricism, that’s wordplay. Biggie didn’t even try to hide the fact that his lyrics were mediocre. People confuse flows and wordplay with lyricism. Read their lyrics on paper to yourself and you’ll realize it’s nothing special. If wordplay and flows were important, Bone Thugs and Twista would be considered the best rappers alive. I’m not impressed

    5. Lady Luch eh?
It’s funny, I could swear I have been a rap fan for about 12 years now and looking back; I can only remember one song this chick was on that I have even heard of.

      Simon Says(Remix)

Why does HipHopDx constantly take words from people bitching about the Industry that has clearly forgotten them?
Lady Luck, you are an even-poorer persons Jean Grae

      1. she is known for what she did during her time, that’s why people talk to her. nobody knows you “Alex”, and that’s why your words hold absolutely no weight at all.

    6. YEA EMINEM IS BETTER THAN BIG AND I’M RICHER THEN BILL GATES. FUCK OUTTA HERE WITH THAT DUMB SHIT IT DON’T EVEN MAKE SENSE. GO LISTEN TO READY TO DIE AND LIFE AFTER DEATH. LIFE AFTER GREATEST FUCKING RAP ALBUM OF ALL TIME. IT’S THE RAP BIBLE 24 TRACKS OF ABSOLUTE HEATROCK AND I DON’T GIVE A FUCK WHAT ANY OF YOU DUMB DX NIGGAS SAY.

    7. This argument is bogus. Biggy DIED before he could advance his style to fit modern times. So to compare him to Eminem WHO IS STILL ALIVE is ridiculous.

      1. then redo your studies..its easy to kill someone when the one being killed is dead and cant redo his verse..eminem had months to work on it lol

    8. absolutely not. this is some real nonsense. she is probably seeking a record deal from M and therefore wants to praise him no matter how ridiculous

    9. There is not such thing that every single person is going to agree on, so it’s all good. This world would be boring if everyone agree with everyone and every single thing was always the same.

I know I sound like a broken record, but race has nothing to do with skills on the Mic. People may view you differently, but on the mic, you are dope or you are wack, it is that easy. I know I am a broken record on this too, but oh well. You can not throw all rappers in the same class, there is a lot of different type of rappers. They are both in my top 1O, but if we go by flow and story telling and just sounding good over a beat, I would pick BIG, but if we are talking about who has more skills with words and the technical side of word play and having lots of different flows, I would give it to EM. They are both great in different ways. Now them battling each other face to face could have been sick, but we will never know. It gets old that it even matters what race they are, when I have my head phones bumpin , I could care less what race someone is or where their from as long as I like what I am listening to. I am very competitive, but not everything has to always be a competition, just enjoy both their stuff and keep it moving and enjoy life because it is to dang short. I love all different kinds of music for different reasons and some days I’m in the mood for one and some days I am in the mood for others. I do know that some people like good sounding rap that rhymes, but it not very technical and doesn’t have a lot of metaphors or anything that they need to figure out and that’s ok I listen to that sometimes too, but sometimes, I like someone that really brings it and I actually have to think. I love people that are artistic and have an awesome imaginations. Both artist are dope……. Keep hip hop alive. Peace.

    10. I don’t understand why emcees like Em or say Redman don’t do more music together. Or why producers such as dr. Dre or swizz work with artists like black milk and maybe Demrick! A mixtape called shady crook scoop producing ft. Em and crooked I!!!!! That would be an incredible peice of work! There is so much talent out here that could and should be with the elite class of hiphop artists the world still has. For every one to enjoy! So many dope underground emcees that go completely unnoticed… Especially in LA!

    11. I agree with her from a lyrical stand point. The same with people disagreeing with me on my opinion that Big Pun is more lyrical and technical than BIG, but people get so butthurt.

    12. Lyrically , YES. Biggie and Pac were legend but we are speaking straight back pack spitting lyrical monsters. Biggie was more of a spitter story telling wise. Pac was more political. Lyrics Em is a BEAST! Hes most lyrical rapper i heard, but still not better then Big.

    13. You YMCMB haters are fucking idiots. Because I’m an accountant for Cash Money Records, I spend a lot of time with Birdman. He told me that in 96, Biggie was looking to get out of his contract with Bad Boy so he could sign with Cash Money. If Cash Money is right for Biggie, then it’s clearly the top record label. Unfortunately, Jay-Z and Diddy found out about Biggie’s upcoming departure and had him shot. Also, Birdman as always a role model for Pac. Most of you don’t know this, but the song Hit Em Up was originally supposed to be Split Em Up, a song where Pac brags about fucking Faith, leading to her breakup with BIG. But Birdman explained to Pac that real gangsta’s talking about killing people, so that’s how Hit Em Up took on such a violent tone. YMCMB for life. We got the game by the clit!!!!!!!!!!

    14. You cant compare a 2015 Eminem with a 1997 Biggie. Cmon now. Thats like comparing Usain Bolt with Carl Lewis. Lets compare them at the same time period and Biggie is way better than Slim Shady.

      1. Actually 1997 Biggie is way better than 2015 Em, it is the 1997 Slim Shady you have to watch out for, that dude was insane.

      2. In terms of lyrical ability, a 1997 slim was still more technical than Big. Not talking about having the total package, but lyrically, like this article is talking about, EM was still more technical.

    15. I agree and I am only a fan of Em’s old shit but lyrically it’s not even close. Neither of them touch Ghost, Nas, Black Thought or Pun though.

    16. She’s right but you have to keep in mind Eminem has had a lot longer to perfect the craft. Biggie died @ 24.

      1. EM’s rhymes were still more technical than Big’s even at that time. I agree Eminem had years to perfect his rhyming skills afterwards. But still, he was pretty lyrical in his earlier years too.

    17. I agree but it’s not as if Em is the only one at this point. In terms of wordplay and rhyme schemes, lyricism has advanced a hell of a lot since 98. But Biggie died before his second album was released so it’s not exactly a fair statement either, we never got to see him evolve and reach his peak.
