Eminem has had a change of heart on releasing a “diss track” aimed at Ben Johnson after the Detroit Lions offensive coordinator announced he was staying with the team.

Johnson was a head coach candidate for a number of other NFL teams including the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders, but informed the league that he would be staying with the Lions after they reached the NFC Conference game, falling just short of the Super Bowl.

Eminem, a noted Detroit Lions fan, welcomed the news on social media and jokingly revealed he would no longer be dropping a diss track against the coach.

“Guess I should stop recording this diss track..!! Lol!!” he wrote on X. “@ Ben Johnson Thank you for staying!!! We can’t break this team up ESPECIALLY since I’M on it!!! Coach Campbell we love you bro!!!”

He added: “Let’s run it back next year!!…I’m READY!!!! I promise you I WILL get us to the super bowl!!!”

Eminem has been a frequent sight at Lions games in recent weeks as the team made a surprise deep run in the playoffs.

The rap legend even offered to suit up for the team, saying in a video: “Yo, Dan! I’m reporting! I’m gonna report, third quarter. I’m reporting, offensive line. Eligible receiver. I’ll be the quarterback. The entire line, offensive line […] and I will throw it to myself, and I will score a touchdown. In the third quarter.”

He continued: “Just give me a uniform. Or, at least, just, like, a helmet. I already have a helmet. It’s not the one for football. It’s just a helmet.”

Eminem was in attendance at the NFC Conference game the Lions narrowly lost to the San Francisco 49ers 34-31.

A video captured by 49ers fans at the game saw Em sticking up his middle fingers at the rival supporters and jibing with sections of the home crowd.

Unfortunately for Slim Shady, his antics were unable to have a positive impact on his beloved Lions, who blew a 17-point lead — and the chance to play in the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl.
