Eminem Continues To Make History As He Becomes 10th Best-Selling Artist Of All Time

Eminem continues to rack up the accolades as his decorated career enters its third decade as he is now officially one of the 10 highest-selling artists of all time.

According to ChartMasters, Slim Shady has finally cracked the top 10 list after achieving 207,262,000 total sales in his career, vaulting him above Led Zeppelin into the No. 10 spot.

The ranking combines album sales, singles sales and streaming data, and is updated daily.

Eminem is the only rapper in the top 40, with Drake his closest competition at No. 41 with just over 120 million sales. Kanye West (No. 61; 98 million sales) and 2Pac (No. 73; 84 million sales) are the only other Hip Hop acts in the top 100.

The Detroit native has a long way to go until he tops the list, though, as The Beatles currently lead the way by a large margin with over 423 million sales.

Michael Jackson (No. 2; 338 million sales), Elvis Presley (No. 3; 321 million sales), Queen (No. 4; 279 million sales) and Madonna (No. 5; 248 million sales) round out the top five.

Eminem previously became the most certified artist in RIAA history last year with 227.5 million gold and platinum certifications (166 million single certifications and 61.5 million album certifications).

He also has the most diamond certifications in Hip Hop with six to his name: The Marshall Mathers LP (2000), The Eminem Show (2002), “Lose Yourself” (2002), Curtain Call: The Hits (2005), “Not Afraid” (2010) and “Love the Way You Lie” (2010).

Marshall Mathers was surpassed by Drake in terms of singles later that year, though, as the 6 God’s total number of song sales soared to 184 million, eclipsing Em’s 166 million.

The 50-year-old still holds the unique distinction of having the two largest first-week sales figures in rap history thanks to The Marshall Mathers LP (1.78 million) and The Eminem Show (1.32 million).

While the accolades and sales continue to pour in for Eminem, his place in the Hip Hop pantheon doesn’t go unchallenged. Just earlier this month, rising Bay Area rapper Symba questioned Em’s self-proclaimed Rap God status and went so far as to claim that he’s the better MC.

“I respect Eminem on a level as a man,” he said during a debate panel at REVOLT World in Atlanta. “But as a rapper, I feel like I can name five better rappers.”

After acknowledging Em’s “fire” catalog, fellow panelist Tierra Whack outright asked him: “Wait, soo you think you’re better than Eminem?”

“Yes,” Symba responded after some hesitation. “Anybody can rhyme words, [but] what are you saying?”

    1. Things just ain’t the same for wangsters,
Em got big, robbin blacks for ages,
Rockin doo rags, he appropriates it,
Bright blue eyes and his skin is pasty,

But the strangest things can happen from jackin,
Other rap styles, for miles piggybackin

      1. @afterfartrecords exactly. I’m guessing only about 20% of eminem sales are real, the rest were “purchased” by the label to push him further. It’s all fake. Most people haven’t even heard of him outside of USA. And even in USA, try to find a single person who can name one eminem song. Barely any. Most people can’t even tell you what he looks like.

      2. Yeah those people at Superbowl halftime were like ” who is this m&m??? And is that other guy supposed to be a real Dr.?

      1. @realtalk. Exactly, and if Michael Jackson was a black person, he never would’ve been the tip selling pop star ever! Idiot…

      2. @Shady So why are no other white rappers anywhere close to as successful as Em? Why doesn’t Dre sign 20 more white rappers like Eminem? You are a 🤡

      3. @niels okay, then why didn’t RA The Rugged Man ever get huge? He was signed before anyone knew who Em was, and even rapped beside Biggie. Why? Because he didn’t have the sound to break people’s minds. By break people’s minds, I mean dropping something with super great beats, flows, and concepts. Kinda like how ppl felt when Kendrick dropped GKMC. And Ems first 2 albums were BOTH better than GKMC. And I’m not even an Em fan. I respect it for the skill and production though.

      4. His popularity was sustained by his white audience. Most of his white audience championed him because of the color of his skin. You could keep mentioning skill all you want but fact is it was his skin color that put him out there. Oh and for the record, Dre signed him thinking he was black until he saw who he was dingus, so he knew they had something there with his color.

      5. It ain’t all about skill either, considering you idiots have liked some of his worst songs and praised him for it makes your opinions laughable when it comes to skill. The man could make fart songs and you fan girls would eat it up. Not to mention his terrible beat selection, yeah you guys would definitely kneel down and suck his dick 🤣

    2. I can understand Symbas statement. So much of Em’s stuff is just wordplay for the sake of wordplay. You get tired of that pretty quickly.. I mean the syllable tricks are nice and all but where is and what is the sentiment? Can’t stand the voice either.

Riff Raff the best white rapper 😀

    3. That OVO dude is crying right now. Drake is never catching up even if Eminem quit right now. He’s still one of most streamed rappers in the world without even releasing albums every year

    5. I think Em is a strong and awesome person…..he has overcome alot and continues to do so! Love his music….he is a very talented rapper! But , of Course there WILL ALWAYS BE HATERS 💋 We all run our own race….AND ITS NOT HOW WE START….BUT HOW WE FINISH! CONGRATS TO YOU EMINEM! CONTINUE TO SHINE! Much love and Respect!
