The debate over the “N” word was hot at the end of 2006. 2007 looks to be no different.
Two
prominent publications geared towards the African American community,
Ebony and Jet, have announced that they will no longer print the “N”
word (and by N word, we at DX mean “nigga” or “nigger”).
“N-word”
has been swung like a clumsy nightstick by Whites for years, trying to
demean, dehumanize and destroy the dignity of Black Americans,”
Johnson goes on to sound off on the current generation and its casual use of the word.

have a generation who have been desensitized to – or never were taught
– the real origins and impact of such a hateful term. But whether it
ends in ‘-er or –ah’ or –a,’ the word – and the pain – is still the
same.”
