Singer Mike Posner has succeeded at something few musicians have accomplished and that is completing school while still pursuing his music career.
Posner recently shared with BallerStatus.com why exactly he chose to continue pursuing his college education at Duke University.
“I went back to school to get my degree after getting my deal, because I just wanted to make my mom proud, and honestly, I would’ve probably been like kicked outta my family if I didn’t,” Mike Posner told BallerStatus.com. “A lot of people in my family sacrificed a lot for me to be able to go to a school like Duke. A lot of people don’t get that privilege. I was really close to finishing, so I decided to finish.”
Posner is currently working on his debut album and in June he will hit the road for the Vans Warped Tour.
Another artist prepping for an album release this year is Compton rapper King T. King T, who hasn’t released a solo album in quite some time, will be releasing his album entitled Tha Krown this summer.
King T has already released two singles off of the album, “Pushin Tha Line” and “Tha Krown.”
According to DubCNN.com, Tha Krown is expected to be released on July 4.
In other Hip Hop news, rapper Ras Kass is hoping pledges from fans will help fund his next project, A.D.I.D.A.S. (All Day I Dream About Spittin’).
A.D.I.D.A.S. (All Day I Dream About Spittin’) is a joint project that will also feature DJ Rhettmatic. It will feature 18-20 tracks and will be available on either full length limited edition CD or vinyl.
The project, which only needed a little under $4,000 to be completely funded, is already up to $10,407 in pledges.
