DX News Bits: Eyedea Memorial, Talib Kweli Calls Out UK Venue

As we reported, Eyedea has tragically passed away. While his family wishes to have privacy in dealing with the untimely death of their talented loved one, they have also created a memorial fundraiser, according to the emcee’s mother.

“It is with great pain and sadness that I tell you my son Mikey (Eyedea) has passed away,” she wrote in a statement. “At this time we kindly request your respect and our privacy as we process this devastating loss. We do, however, welcome your kind words, memories, and positive thoughts. We have created a Paypal account and are accepting donations towards the cost of his services.”

    1. I am glad I am not the only one who thought that. Was he really that broke that they are asking for money for his funeral? He died the morning of the 17th and they set up the fundraiser that night? Raising money for a charity to donate on his behalf to whoever else suffers from depression, drug addiction, or disease makes sense. My son died, he was a rapper, I found him dead this morning. I am not telling you how he died, thats private. Send me your hard earned money please because we need to bury him. We already bought his CDs and his concert tickets. Sorry that he is dead but get the money for his funeral the same way we do? If I find out he spent all of his money on some sort of medical treatment I will feel bad for saying this. If I find out that he overdosed I will assume that the information was withheld from us hoping for more donations.
