While Drake is currently on tour promoting his debut album Thank Me Later, the T-Dot emcee recently stated he wouldn’t mind making a return to acting. In December of 2009, Drake signed on with International Creative Management. ICM serves as one of the world’s largest talent and literary agencies and will reportedly represent the rapper/actor in all phases of his career.
In an interview with Ohio State Buckeye TV’s “Music On Campus,” Drake explained what his tentative future holds. “After [Thank Me Later] I have another project I have in mind that I want to do, but after that I’ll probably get back into some movies, yeah. I’m excited to do movies again. I like being on set.”
Drake’s Thank Me Later will be released on June 15.
In other news, singer/comedian/actor Jamie Foxx will be taking on the star role of an animated character in his next movie Welcome to the Jungle.
Co-produced by Foxx and Jamie Rucker King, this will be Foxx’s first feature animation film. Without giving out too much information on the movie, script writer Malcolm Spellman told Variety, “I’m psyched about Welcome to the Jungle because it’s specifically built to utilize Jamie’s talent with voices and as a musician.”
Welcome to the Jungle, which will be released through 20th Century Fox Animation, currently has no release date.
i think drake’s album is gonna have big sales and i am anticipating seeing jamie foxx in this movie hopefully it will be a good movie for everybody to enjoy
hahahah of course this bum is gonna go back to movies because he’s finally starting to understand that his rap career isn’t taking off like he thought. Which is good, he’s average at best.
ha yeah, Drake’s career isn’t taking off. Its not like he’s about to blow the FUCK UP
What the Hell yu talkin bout? (jiggathatnigga) His career isnt taking off?? last time i checked drake is one of the most popular artist out right now..and since weezy is gone he might just be the most talked about person in hip hop..so how is his career not taking off?? and his skills obviously dont matter because he still makin more money than all these so called “skilled” rappers so fuck all that! the man makin money which is the purpose for making music in the first place BITCH!
he has skills, but is not as skilled as some say. and music comes from the heart buddy not cus you want a check drake had money before the music, of course you we all want money but they saying goes, ” find somthing you love to do and youll never have to work another day in your life”
Wowwwwwwwwwww!!!Recently, I came across a hot military dating and friends club. –**Blackmilitaryfriends.com**–. There are many sassy ladies and handsome military guys seeking fun, friendship, love ,marriage and even more!!!!! Maybe you wanna check out or tell your friends.
DONT BUY DRAKES ALBUM UNLESS YOU WANT RECYCLED GARBAGE, HIS CLASSIC IS A STRAIGHT FUCKIN FRISBEE….GET SOME LITTLE BROTHER OR CATCH UP ON THAT PLANET ASIA AND GCM ALBUM, FUCK DRAKE, HE IS A TEENY BOPPER PUSSY WHO NEEDS TO GET PUNCHED IN HIS MOUTH
HIP-HOP IS OVER, IT IS DEAD AND THE GUYS I LISTEN TO JUST MOURN IT AS WELL….BIG UPS TO RAPPERS LIKE GZA, MASTA ACE, LITTLE BROTHER FOR PUTTING OUT THEIR LAST FUCKIN ALBUM AND THOSE RAPPERS WHO JUST PUT THEIR LAST TOUCHES ON THIS DYING ARTFORM
GOODBYE HIP-HOP MUSIC, HELLO FAG RAP!
It’s funny when you think hip hop is dead, and everybody is doing recycled music. Hip hop has always been recycle music, and music don’t die they reform into something different like jazz and blues and other ones as well. I love hip hop and I find it everyday here, and I will continue to buy and support the real, and when the day comes it becomes more of something I don’t like that’s when I’ll stop, till then hip hop is alive and well to me, it just no longer being played on radio or have repeat video play. I think a lot you are acting like grandpas, bitter and just too old to stick with the new generation, having a lot of 90’s stuff all around just to stay at an era where you were at your prime, but you old now, it’s time to admit it. That time is over old man, now be quiet, and let the youngsters do what they do.
uhhh and just what old man are you referring to? lol.. what you said was great but what happens when Hip-Hop/Rap music is completely over for both the new generation and old generation in terms of making a large sum of money from it? what happens when Hip-Hop/Rap music is just completely gone for good like Disco? It’s just like when Black & White TV’s went completely off the market and colored TV’s came into the mix…I bet it’s extremely hard to go and find a Black & White TV right now in 2010 today unless you jump right over to E-BAY to search for it and purchase it…
Lol, Drake is aight and there are honestly there are a few young cats in the game making some noise but the truth is, most of the shit on the radio ain’t hip-hop but rather ‘ghetto pop’ music. Catchy hooks, abc lyrics, plug in efx and mindless music. There’s nothing wrong with a party song or two if that’s what you favor, but the mainstream today has no balance and has alienated all the real shit from being promoted. Not everyone wants to turn on the radio / tv and hear someone harmonizing autotune hooks, or a rapper wearing skin tight jeans with a bunch of video hoes posing and dancing talking about making it rain and poppin bottles. Most niggas in the streets ain’t living like that and don’t relate to that.
Mainstream wouldnt be so bad if they would balance it out. There’s even young cats like Fashawn for example making good music that ain’t getting promoted, so it’s far from an old vs young thing. True lyricism in the mainstream is dead. All the good shit is underground, old or young.
DRIZZY IS NICE BUT HAS BEEN FALLING OFF SINCE SO FAR GONE. EVERY TRACK HE HAS DONE SINCE THEN HAS BEEN PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. HE IS DOING SPRITE ADS AND NOT DEVELOPING AS A MUSICIAN HIS FLOW IS GETTING OLD AND ALTHOUGH I USED TO PUT CATS ON NOW I AM KINDA GETTING OVER HIM. lets see what he does with thank me later b/c is should be interesting. as for this old vs. new debate see jigga. ‘want my old ish? buy my old album’
Cosign man, i feel the same shit. So now I moved on to J.Cole dat dude cold man!!!
yeaa i mean drake still my fav rapper only cuz ive known about this dude since his degrassi days and have all his mixtapes for real not download kinda pumped hes gonna do movies but on the music aspect i agree he isnt like his so far done and comeback season days his flows were nice back then now hes just talking with good lyrics. i believe that thank me later is going to be legendary tho he knows what hes doing and taking his time to make sure every song is perfect and a great single to start it off well see whats to come
big ups to “its um” 4 dropping the knowledge.
for all the old head on here who want the Grandfather MC’s and their styles to come back… kill that, oh wait it happened already. just like when you’re @ your job and the new software or policies come out, when you cant adapt what does management… pink slip paper time right? same w/ the rappers y’all want back! DOS went out of style b/c it couldnt evolve w/i a world of Windows, Lenux and OS.
HipHop is still alive, there’s no such thing as “hiphop music” b/c HipHop is a cultural movement that deals w/ lifestyle through the Arts platforms blending culture, history, strife and politics.
Rap is suffering for sure b/c of the growing business side of it but its so huge there was gonna be a waterring down of styles. rap has been around about 40yrs (props to the Lost Poets for creating it –if you dont know who they are you shouldnt even comment about rap until you do), its purpose as a genre is still contantly change, 4 better or worse (case and point: B.E.P.)
Drake’s career is going straight to the top, he will be Fabolous is supposed to be but w/o the gritty “drug rap” style (which is hella played by now cant wait 2 this obsession w/ “i’m in the streets” garbage is gone– its 4 clones). the T-Dot Kid is reppin 4 his town and cant wait ’til his single Kardinal is ready for rotation!! i heard a snippet, its seems raw tho. “flossy/hater rap” is great for singles but he’s gotta use his rhymes to influence mindset and bring up issues affecting our community. thats what the game is missing… what Hova failed to do even as popular as he is. ‘Pac was the last to do it large scale, Nas on the East Coast, Common in the Midwest (he’s changed though) although Kanye has taken that slack up (has the popularity to make it massive –where is Kanye, 4 real? we need his 16’s) and nobody in the south (sorry T.I. and ‘Face, Luda’s tryin’ tho)
i agree with you completely. and is it Last or Lost poets?? either way true, very critical to Rap history.
i dont understand how you can say Common has changed but Kanye hasnt? he changed after his second album. the third was hot but nothing on his first two. to be honest, i really dont anticipate anything from ‘Ye anymore because most of his music now is mindless, retarded, and autotuned like a BITCH. it’s just irritating. Hova doesn’t do it in his music anymore but im sure he helps out in community, making as much money as he does. and if he doesnt, there’s a problem. As far as Drake, i havent really heard anything from him that brings to light issues affecting out community. but the dude has a lot of potential. I knew that him signing with Young money would suck him into their mindless lifestyle. its too bad really. but if you look hard enough there are a lot of upcoming MCees that aren’t so watered down:
Lupe, Skyzoo, Fashawn, J.Cole, Jay Electronica, B.o.B to name a few
to me, i like the old rap style and wouldnt mind them coming back but i know that just isnt plausible. but there really isnt anything wrong with that. but to complain and bitch about it constantly is getting a bit tiring. I sought out new artists that embrace the old school and the new school. gives me the best of both worlds.
