Drake & ID-PR Sever Ties Following Rolling Stone Interview

Drake and PR firm ID-PR have severed ties after working together for the past two years, according to Billboard.

“Drake is an incredibly talented artist,” ID-PR said in a statement to Billboard. “We’re proud of our results for Nothing Was The Same and Would You Like A Tour? We wish him the best.”

Billboard reports that ID initiated the severing of ties soon after Drake complained about Rolling Stone replacing his cover with one of Philip Seymour Hoffman, who had recently died of an apparent overdose.

In Drake’s recent appearance in Rolling Stone, the rapper criticized and championed Jay Z and Kanye West. After the article was published, Drake said some of his comments regarding Kanye West were made off the record. He also said that he was “disgusted” with the fact that his cover was replaced with another one. “I’m disgusted with that. RIP to Philip Seymour Hoffman. All respect due. But the press is evil,” his Twitter post said. The Twitter post has since been deleted, along with the one about West. During that series of Twitter posts, Drake also said that he was “done doing interviews for magazines.” That Tweet remains on his timeline.

On February 14, Drake elaborated on his frustration with Rolling Stone. “Today I was forced out of my character and felt the need to react swiftly,” he said at the time. “These days are the worst ones. Waking up after a great night in the studio and it’s your day to be picked apart. After dwelling on it for a few hours or days you will come to the conclusion that you brought it on yourself almost every time.”

Drake has yet to comment on the split with ID.

    1. Drake jumped off the plantation and learned a valuable lesson. Billboard magazine and the allies have effectively ended his career. He’ll never get his own sitcom nor star in any movies. He should have just stayed in his place. Cash Money Records is known for moving on to the next artist. Remember Juvenile sold 10 million albums worldwide and Cash Money moved on without him. Drake has only sold 7 million albums worldwide, so he ain’t nothing special.

      1. Juvenile was fired because he wanted more money from projects he was not involved in. He also attacked birdman and clocked him in the fact. Mannie Fresh, rather than helping birdman, joined in the fight. That’s how Mannie Fresh left. Drake knows his place and would never hurt us. Meanwhile, Juvie’s album will not chart.

      2. Juvie stated this many times that Birdman screwed him over his money. Your statements are nothing but lies to defend Birdman.

      3. Juvie almost killed ymcmb. He became greedy, and not only left but encourage everyone to defect and only wayne remained. Juvie got his royalties and birdman even helped to provide them with homes but juvie got greedy.

      4. No ones talking about ross. At least he doesn’t bite the hand that feeds him. Juvie struggled since he left cash money. Quit changing the subject.

      5. Yes, you were because what you said described Ross. Juvie din’t bite the hand that fed him, the hand stop giving him what he needs.

    2. Oh ok lol Drake’s career is over. He’s sold 7 million, and been a part of selling 200 million in digital singles. His success is just getting started while Juve struggles to get ITunes to carry his flop album.

      1. Those were lies Juvie made up. He got plenty of money over there and wanted money on projects he was not involved in. Easier to cut him off at the end.

      2. I don’t complain unlike you and he only kisses wayne, which is father son time. Ive seen fathers kiss their sons all the time.

      3. Yes, you do complain when people don’t praise your heroes. There’s nothing father-son time about two unrelated men kissing. You’ve only seen gay men kiss other gay men.

      1. Ya, Dude is representing Toronto in the softest way possible while somehow keeping us relevant in this so called hip hop shit

    3. Drake probably has a dozen other PR firms lined up waiting to represent the Michael Jackson of hip hop.

      1. You’re joking, right? Eminem sold 100 million albums, more than any other rapper out there. He’s clearly Michael.
