Drake was accidentally referred to as a “raper” instead of a rapper by a New York City news anchor this week.
During ABC7’s Eyewitness News segment on Tuesday (May 7), two broadcast journalists discussed the shooting that occurred outside Drake’s Toronto home earlier this week.

“Lot of questions tonight about a security guard who was shot outside of the mansion of the raper — rapper, I should say — Drake, in Toronto,” the anchorman said.

The shooting took place in the early hours of Tuesday morning in the city’s ritzy Bridle Path neighborhood, which is home to Drake’s “Embassy” mansion.
Rolling Stone confirmed that the victim was Drake’s security guard, who suffered a gunshot wound to his upper chest. He was found unconscious and subsequently rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.
The rapper himself was uninjured during the incident, which is believed to have been a drive-by shooting.
Drizzy’s home was recently used as fodder in his high-profile feud with Kendrick Lamar, with the Compton rapper using a satellite picture of the property as the cover art for his scathing diss song “Not Like Us.” Additionally, the image was peppered with several red markers to resemble the ones on sex predator apps. On the songs, K.Dot accuses the 6 God and his associates of being pedophiles.

“Say, Drake, I hear you like ’em young/ You better not ever go to cell block one/ To any bitch that talk to him and they in love/ Just make sure you hide your lil’ sister from him,” he rapped.
He also added: “And Baka [Not Nice] got a weird case, why is he around?/ Certified Lover Boy? Certified pedophiles.”

The Canadian superstar refuted the allegations on his response record “The Heart Part 6,” rapping: “I never been with no one underage but now I understand why this the angle that you really mess with/ Just for clarity, I feel disgusted, I’m too respected/ If I was fucking young girls, I promise I’d have been arrested/ I’m way too famous for this shit you just suggested.”
Police were previously called to the rap star’s sprawling Toronto home in 2021 when an armed stalker struck a private security guard with a metal pipe while attempting to trespass onto the estate.

The culprit was arrested and the metal pipe, along with a knife, were seized as evidence — fortunately for the “hotline Bling” hitmaker, she didn’t get anywhere near her intended target.
“The perpetrator did not get anywhere near Drake,” a source told the Toronto Sun. “In fact, the intruder did not make it past the front gate.”
