DJ Envy has been dragged non-stop for his alleged involvement in a multi-million-dollar real estate fraud case, with Desus Nice becoming the latest public figure to take shots at him.
On Tuesday (October 25), the New York City comedian made an appearance on The Daily Show to release some pent-up animosity in a hilarious “who’s laughing now?” segment about his rocky past with the media personality.

“It’s definitely not funny,” he began, sarcastically referring to how their relationship turned sour live on air a few years back. “There’s certainly nothing personal that makes it funny to me. It’s not like RaaShaun [DJ Envy’s real name] accosted me on the radio for making a little joke about him and his wife, which I only thought we were friends!
“It’s not like he called me ‘dickhead’ and then got so mad, he locked himself in the studio for the rest of the show and then told the building security I was a threat. But even if that happened, that’s all in the past.”

After sharing snippets of news reports and a clip of the radio host even admitting that he was warned about his business endeavor possibly being a Ponzi scheme, the 42-year-old wrapped things up with one final jab.
“We’re not laughing at this. We’re also not asking, ‘who’s the dickhead now?’” he said. “I’m just doing the news and the news is that DJ Envy’s a DJ — a man who turns tables, and now, the tables have turned.”
It took only minutes for DJ Envy to press the duo about what he perceived to be disrespectful comments about his wife made on their VICELAND show, Desus & Mero. “It’s not a joke when you’re talking about my wife,” Envy stated.

His hostility stemmed from a joke made about Envy and his wife’s appearance on BET’s The Real, where they opened up about Envy’s infidelity.
“You knew them DJ Envy checks, though,” Desus joked about her saying that she didn’t know DJ Envy, but rather RaaShaun.

After a few minutes of a heated exchange, the duo offered multiple apologies. “Envy, we’ll never do another joke about you,” Mero said before asking: “You really thought that was disrespectful?”
“My wife heard it and thought it was disrespectful,” Envy replied.
Once the situation seemed to die down, Envy proceeded to walk out of the interview just a little over five minutes in. Co-host Charlemagne Tha God quickly told the cameraman, “Please put the camera on Envy’s chair … that n-gga is light skinned.”
“He pressed us. We apologized … it should be over,” Desus said about Envy’s exit.

Ebro Darden, among several others, initially thought the entire incident was staged as he subsequently tweeted: “Envy walked off his own show? [two laughing emojis, one fire emoji] …. Amazing marketing! The Viceland x iHeart promo machine working overtime…. Desus & Mero nicest people too!”
As time went on, it turned out to be just as serious as it seemed, with the tension between both sides still bubbling in 2023.
