DJ Drama is prepping the newest Gangsta
Grillz Mix tape.
Outkast was slated to be the next group to put out a tape on
the Gangsta Grillz series. However, according to Drama,
it’s been difficult to get Andre 3000 on the mic.
“It’s been kinda hard…I’m not even gonna lie. God
willing, hopefully we’ll get something out of him. He’s been pretty on the
up-and-up about getting on the project. He’s been excited about it. But getting
him to get to the rhymes is a hard thing,” he said to MTV about the
pending project.
While that mix tape seems to be taking awhile, Drama
is wasting no time. He’s also gearing up for his official Gangsta Grillz
LP. That album should hit stores soon. It will feature guest spots from various
artists including Young Buck, Lil’ Wayne, T.I., and Young
Jeezy.
“It’s gonna be the movement, the definition of the
foundation,” he said of the official album. He isn’t shy about
making bold predictions either. Drama even likened it to
a Hip-Hop classic.
“Since it’s the first album, I want to accumulate
everything I’ve done the first five years of the series [but] it’s not going to
be a compilation. I’d like to compare it to what Dr. Dre did with The
Chronic. It’s going to be fun. I want you to go from beginning to end and feel
like it was an extremely powerful mix tape. Gangsta Grillz is the movement,
that’s what the album has to be,” he added with confidence.
And while Andre 3000 may not be the next to
grace the Grillz series, Drama has other rappers in
line. Expect to hear a Young Buck Grillz mix tape
sometime soon.
