DJ Dahi is not pleased about the recently-leaked Kendrick Lamar songs that have made their way to a Spotify playlist.

The producer took to his Instagram Story on Thursday (January 19) to denounce the release of the three songs.

Appearing on a playlist titled “Morale Pack,” the songs were thought to have been recorded during the making of Kendrick’s most recent album, 2022’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, but they’re apparently much older.

“Why are y’all leaking shit from 4 years ago???” Dahi wrote. “We didn’t even bounce those records out. These kdot records are strictly demos. Y’all are really dying of thirst out here lol”

The three new leaks from K.Dot are titled “Pure,” “Make Me Happy” and “Computer Love.” The former was reportedly produced by Pharrell and contains some of the same lyrics and ad-libs from Kendrick’s verse on the leaked version of Baby Keem’s “Vent,” which Keem later used on “Cocoa.”

Los Angeles native Dahi has worked with Kendrick Lamar since the early inception of Top Dawg Entertainment, gaining notoriety for producing “Money Trees” on Kendrick’s 2012 major label debut Good Kid, M.A.A.D City, as well as ScHoolboy Q’s “Sexting” that same year.

He was also a part of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, and revealed in an interview shortly after its release last year that the project’s 10th track “Count Me Out” was initially meant for his own album.

“It’s funny because originally that piece of music was actually for my album,” Dahi said of the track. “That was from a jam session that I had done with my guys, Eli and Danny, Danny McKinney is an incredible guitar player. We were just at the house, jamming out ideas. Originally we had worked on this song idea and I had hired a choir to work on a bunch of ideas that I had for my album. I was like, ‘I am using this, this shit is fire.’”

He continued: “But I sent it to Kendrick, like, ‘What do you think?’ And he was like, ‘Yo, I love it.’ He was like, ‘This shit is crazy,’ and he started writing to it, and he was like, ‘Yo, bro, I think I might need it. This is exactly what I need.’ Just knowing him and his process, it’s like, all right, yeah. Maybe it’s a good thing or bad thing, but I don’t hold on to music. If I trust other artists or what they do creatively, I’ll let things go because it’s more about the messenger.”

As for the latest leaks, Kendrick himself has not yet commented.
