Having cemented himself as one of Hip Hop’s rawest (and raunchiest) talents, Danny Brown is now looking to conquer another arena with his unique mic skills.
On Tuesday (May 10), the Detroit-bred rapper announced the launch of his own podcast, The Danny Brown Show. The show will debut on May 17 via YMH Studios, the podcast network founded by comedy couple Tom Segura and Christina Pazsitzky and home to shows such as Your Mom’s House, 2 Bears 1 Cave and Dr. Drew After Dark.
“Dropping on @ymhstudios May 17,” the Bruiser Brigade boss wrote on Instagram while sharing the cover art and theme song for his podcast. “get ready to get the jeans high and tight.”
Ab-Soul, A-Trak and Quelle Chris were among those applauding Brown’s announcement in his comments section.

Despite this being his first podcast, Danny Brown has become a fixture in the world of podcasting in recent years. The Old rapper has guested on a slew of hit shows including Joey Diaz’s The Church of What’s Happening, Tony Hinchcliffe and Brian Redban’s Kill Tony and Neal Brennan and Moshe Kasher’s The Champs, as well as rap-centric shows such as Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller’s Rap Radar Podcast.
During a 2017 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Brown admitted he enjoys listening to podcasts more than he does than rap music (with the exception of his “Really Doe” collaborator Kendrick Lamar).
“I don’t even listen to rap music anymore at this point,” he said. “Like, an album come out I’ll listen to it and I’ll like it, but… podcasts. It’s the future.”
Danny Brown is no stranger to hosting his own show, either. In 2019, VICELAND tapped the Motor City native to host Danny’s House, an offbeat comedy talk that saw him interview fellow rappers such as A$AP Rocky, ScHoolboy Q and El-P, as well as comedian Hannibal Buress, former NBA player John Salley and wrestling legend “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan.

Danny Brown’s entry into the podcast game doesn’t mean he’s hanging up his mic for good, though. The 41-year-old recently announced he’s completed his next album Quaranta (“forty” in Italian) with help from Grammy-winning, Top Dawg Entertainment-affiliated engineer MixedByAli.
“It’s just pretty much like an update of what I’ve been going through the last ten years after XXX,” he told HotNewHipHop last December, while promising collaborations with veteran producer The Alchemist. “It’s going to be fun.”
Brown is also working on a full-length collaboration with fellow Hip Hop experimentalist JPEGMAFIA, who he teamed up with on 2019’s “Negro Spiritual.” The duo performed a new song from the project at The Smokers Club Festival in California in April.
