As we reported earlier this week, Aubrey O’Day was kicked out of Bad Boy‘s Danity Kane [click to read]. The move was made known to fans via Making the Band‘s finale. Danity Kane‘s Dawn Richard recently spoke to US Weekly about the reasons behind Diddy‘s decision to drop Aubrey from the group.
“Puff did not like [O’Day‘s] image … where her image was going for the group,” remaining member Dawn Richard says, adding that certain press appearances have not been pleasing for Diddy. Specifically, it would seem as though she is referring to Aubrey‘s recent spread in Complex magazine [click to read]. Via their daily blog, Complex maintains that the photo spread in question took place three days after the Making the Band finale was taped.
Furthermore, Richard says the move was more business related and the image O’Day portrayed did not fit the image the group was trying to show.
“It wasn’t a personal thing,” Richard added. “We had just did a signing with Dollhouse Teen, which is for 13 [and] 14-year-old young girls. So, we can’t do that one day, and then the next day do an obnoxious cover…[Diddy] wants the fans, and he says he can’t do that if we can continue to go in the direction that we were going.”
So, is D. Woods also out? No finalized word on her, yet, even though she has released a track with minor shots at the girls in the group.
“Well, Puff told me specifically that Aubrey is no longer in Danity Kane, and Danity Kane will move forward without her,” Richard says. When asked if the next season of Making the Band will kick off with the group searching for the next member of DK, Richard offered the following:
“He has not said anything per that. But I think in my heart that he is going to do another show.”
