Dame Dash has continued to criticize JAY-Z by claiming his former business partner was a âterribleâ marketer when they were running Roc-A-Fella Records.
In an interview with former Roc-A-Fella A&R Big Face Gary on his America Nu Network, Dash downplayed Hovâs lauded businessman qualities by saying: âJAY-Z was a terrible marketer. Heâs the worst marketer of all time.

âDo you remember any Roc-A-Fella artist, when they had a new record, of homeboy jumping on their first single?â he then asked Gary, who responded by claiming that he once confronted Jigga about not blessing his signees with a guest verse.
âDame used to be like, âYo, G, this donât make no sense. Heâs one of the owners of Roc-A-Fella Records; he refuses to go on records with his artist.â And I used to say, âYo, Jay, what the hell, bro?â

â[He said], âYo, Iâm an artist too, yâall forget that?â [I said,] âBut Jay, if you got a hit, youâre gonna make more money!â He never wanted to do records with no other artists.â
Dame interjected: âYou said it right. You validated my point.â
On the flip side, the Harlem-bred mogul praised the marketing skills of former Roc represenatives Kanye West and Camâron, saying: âThe ones that were a little more proactive helping out their crew were the ones that, to me, were the best at marketing.â

Dame Dash previously accused JAY-Z of shady business practices during their time together at Roc-A-Fella.
âMake another Hov? Why the fuck would I make another Hov?â he asked rhetorically in a video posted online in January, referencing Jayâs lyrical jab on his 2006 track âLost Ones.â

âHe was double dipping. We were paying him highly as an artist and he was double dipping from the company and it didnât make me a lot of money. He did not generate $100 million a year for me. I donât want to make another Hov.
âI did make a Kanye, a Camâron. And, you know, after you do that I donât have to do anything else. But what I did do was the next year, I started another company called Rachel Roy and it generated over $100 million a year. So I didnât make another Hov, I made another $100 million company.â
The former business partners are also currently embroiled in a legal battle over Roc-A-Fella Inc. and its ownership of JAY-Zâs classic album Reasonable Doubt.
Dashâs one-third share in the company (which is separate to Roc-A-Fella LLC, which houses the rest of the labelâs catalog) is being auctioned off next month to pay off his extensive debts which total around $10 million.

Hov recently claimed that the copyright to Reasonable Doubt reverts back to him in the year 2031, meaning any buyer of the shares would have a limited time window to profit from the asset.
In response, the state of New York (who are looking to retrieve money from Dash through the sale) claimed that the album is not eligible for copyright termination and that Jay was attempting to drive down the sale price at the auction.

In an Instagram video addressing the dispute, Dame accused his longtime rival of âpoison[ing] the environment for the auction.â
