Conway The Machine has shared his top 5 rappers of all-time based on the idea of who has the “nicest pen.”
Last week, the former Griselda rapper stopped by The Drop 104.7 in Denver, CO, and was asked by The Maleman about his favorite spitters.
Conway laughed when he heard the prompt around the 10:54 mark, and said: “I’m still gonna give you a top five, but I just wanna say that’s kind of unfair. We’ll never be able to get that right because I can name 20 dudes that’s top 5 worthy.
“Hands down, they top 5. But, for me, I’ma say the nicest pen, the nicest dudes. No order at all. [André] 3000, I’ma say Hov [JAY-Z], I really, really wanna say [2]Pac, but hold on, let me keep thinking. I wanna have Rae and Ghost as one, Raekwon and Ghostface [Killah], it’s a tie … I’m probably gonna go Tunechi [Lil Wayne] and 50 [Cent].”
Conway may have listed his five favorite MCs, but in his mind, there’s no one that has a pen game like his.
Back in May, he staked his claim as the best rapper alive with a teaser for his recently-released album Slant Face Killah — and it starred an unlikely pop star.
Narrated by the closing lines from the cult French film La Haine, much of the clip appears to be set in Paris and even included a cameo from Dua Lipa — who he met in the French capital last fall and called a “great friend.”
Posting the video on Instagram, the rapper boldly declared: “I really did it this time!!! I fucking did it!! I’m iller than all these n-ggas! I can’t wait for y’all to hear this new shit!! SFK FRIDAY.”
The teaser also featured appearances from Swizz Beatz, Busta Rhymes, Havoc, Tony Yayo, Dave East, Maino and Larry June.
Despite Dua Lipa’s appearance in the trailer, she is not featured in the stacked supporting cast for SFK.
The album boasts appearances from Raekwon, Method Man, Ab-Soul, Joey Bada$$, Tech N9ne and others, along with production from the likes of Swizz, The Alchemist and Daringer.
Notably missing from the album, however, is Conway’s Buffalo, New York brethren Westside Gunn and Benny The Butcher.
Oh that’s why his rhymes be sloppy and chaotic at times. He don’t listen to Nas enough. Ghost is top 3. He mastered that kind of choppy flow. He’s a master…
nicest”pen”anddudesaidlilwaynehahaha
U clearly have never listened to Wayne’s early albums. If u don’t think his pen is nice ur insane
Bar for bar, Wayne is garbage. He says fake clever shit. He can flow tho.
Lil Wayne? Lol ummm…. what?
This sums up why I always thought he wasn’t all that – imagine saying jay z lol. Boot licking stuff
Imagine not saying Jay-Z. Every rapper names Jay-Z in their top 5 yet casual hip hop fans want to claim he’s overrated. Jay-Z is in the top 6 of most albums sold by a rapper but he’s overrated? He’s tied for the most Grammys by a hip hop artist and he has the most #1 albums by a rapper. That’s right, not Drake, not Eminem not Kanye….Jay-z
You think he gets grammys for his music?? No, they give him grammys so he will show up with Beyonce. The Grammys sells ads, they need viewers. Think for like 5 seconds.
@really everything you used to argue was just sales numbers lol. That doesn’t equate to talent. Guess what, Soulja Boy outsold Rakim. I guess Soulja Boy is clearly better.
Zzzzzz…
This site is obsessed (for some reason) with this irrelevant moron, as well as Joe Budden ans Jim Jones. Who gives a shit what any of these 3 idiots have to say??
Guess it works because I’m dedicated to hating on this retard 🤷🏻♂️
Everybody knows Lloyd Banks has the nicest pen. Him and Jadakiss.
50 is in my top 5 too.
