Controversy At The West Coast Hip Hop Summit

Suge Knight is at it again! What was supposed to be a peaceful and positive gathering, the Hip Hop Summit was turned upside down by hip hop’s most notorious shit talker. Minister Louis Farrahkan got things rolling at the Four Seasons with a 90 minute speech that addressed many crucial things in hip hop today, including lyrical content. Farrahkan was followed by Def Jam founder and Summit co-organizer Russell Simmons, comedian Steve Harvey, and veteran rappers Mike Concepcion and the D.O.C. He went on to take “a roll call” and called out the names of many east coast emcees, which Simmons quickly pointed out had attended the East Coast Summit.

Things really got ugly after that though as Suge went on to question the content of Eminem’s lyrics, criticize Janet Jackson, Dr Dre, Master P and Cash Money. He went after Jackson for using images of 2Pac during her concerts, despite that the pictures were shown to honor him. He chastised Master P and Cash Money for not meeting him during a recent trip to New Orleans. It was his next comments that created an uproar though and caused several people to get up and leave. Knight accused women of wanted to be men and said that they are not equipped to be leaders because they are not strong enough. The saga continues…
