Common Speaks On Working Relationship With No I.D., Previews “The Dreamer, The Believer”

Common recently previewed his upcoming album The Dreamer, The Believer for Complex.com, explaining a few key tracks on the project. The 10-track album is what the Chicago, Illinois native believes is the result of reconnecting with No I.D., who handles the entirety of the production for the LP.

“I hadn’t worked with No I.D. for like 8 or 9 years,” he said. “We really hadn’t talked that much either, so reconnecting with him – especially as we’ve both grown as human beings, men, and artists – reminded me what I love music for and why I love hip-hop. It’s like, you’ve done this, you’ve been to the White House, you’ve done these things, but you’re still a hip-hop dude. It’s kind of a good reminder.”

Head over to Complex.com to read a track-by-track preview of the album, due in December.

      1. was just about to say the same thing and I dont use the word CLASSIC! loosely either but the tracklist and subject matter on each track should guarantee it a classic

      2. I understand you guys’ excitement, cuz I’m hype for a new Common album too… HOWEVER, lets not do this again… throwing aroung the “C” word before we even hear it. When you expect a CLASSIC, anything less will be a disappointment even when a project is very good.

    1. more artists should do this
an Ye album with only Ye production
a Nas album with Premo, Pete Rock, Salaam Remi production
Outkast with only Organized Noize production
      Snoop with only Dre production
DMX with Dame Grease and Swizz production
      etc.

      1. I agree with everything you said excecpt for the Nas/Salaam Remi thing… Salaam Remi is a good producer, but if you peep the credits on Nas’ albums, he been behind some of the WORST songs in Nas’s career. NOT a good match

    2. Dont understand how the albums coming and really no set up other than blue sky…now its like they do 2 weeks of promo, the video and the album comes out the fuck? i remember when the single would rock for a minute and the anticipation builds and then BOOM the album

    3. I Thought his new shit was gonna be a double disc? Only 10 Tracks?, I Know The album will be amazing but Just 10 Tracks? i been waitng for 3 years for a new common album, so this better be 10 tracks of greatness.

    4. I prefer shorter records. Long records always have filler. I’d rather put a record on for 35-40 minutes of excellence than have an hour long joint that kills my buzz every three songs.
