Charlamagne Tha God Explains Significance Of J. Cole’s Apology To Kendrick Lamar

Charlamagne Tha God has expressed his admiration for J. Cole, who recently took it upon himself to end his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar.

On Monday (April 8), the radio host awarded the show’s “Donkey of the Day” to the “unhealed heathens” who are mad at the North Carolina native for apologizing to K.Dot, noting that it takes a grown man who is serious about his healing journey to pull that off.

“The rap fan in me understands the disappointment many of you feel in Cole,” he began. “But the man in me who understands that I’m a spiritual being living a human existence has nothing but respect for what J. Cole did. See, so many of us lead with pride and ego nowadays, and we let these idiots on social media – who we don’t even know – peer pressure us to say things and do things that we don’t even wanna do.

“It takes a real human to check himself and say, ‘Man, what I’m doing? I don’t believe what I said. I don’t even believe in what I did.’ Apologize and keep it moving. Y’all want a man to attack a man for your entertainment because we are a culture that feeds off conflict. We like to see people at war with each other because we are really at war with ourselves.”

He concluded: “Salute to Cole for breaking the cycle!”

Walking back on a joint named “7 Minute Drill” that was aimed at his longtime friend and released as part of a surprise mixtape last week, the Fayetteville MC admitted his regrets about it while performing at Dreamville Festival in early April.

“I’m so proud of [Might Delete Later], except for one part,” he told the crowd during his headlining set. “It’s one part of that shit that makes me feel like, man that’s the lamest shit I did in my fuckin’ life, right? And I know this is not what a lot of people want to hear.

“I was conflicted because: one, I know my heart and I know how I feel about my peers. These two n-ggas that I just been blessed to even stand beside in this game, let alone chase they greatness. So I felt conflicted ’cause I’m like, bruh, I don’t even feel no way. But the world wanna see blood. I don’t know if y’all can feel that, but the world wanna see blood.”

He went on to praise his peer from Compton, adding: “That shit disrupts my fucking peace. So what I want to say right here tonight is in the midst of me doing that, trying to find a little angle and downplay this n-gga’s fucking catalog and his greatness, I want to say right now tonight, how many people think Kendrick Lamar is one of the greatest motherfuckers to ever touch a fucking microphone? Dreamville, y’all love Kendrick Lamar, correct? As do I.

“I just want to come up here and publicly be like, bruh, that was the lamest, goofiest shit. I say all that to say it made me feel like 10 years ago when I was moving incorrectly. And I pray that God will line me back up on my purpose and on my path. I pray that my n-gga really didn’t feel no way and if he did, my n-gga, I got my chin out. Take your best shot. I’ma take that shit on the chin, boy. Do what you do.”

The 39-year-old then concluded:“All good. It’s love. And I pray that y’all forgive a n-gga for the misstep and I can get back to my true path. Because I ain’t gonna lie to y’all, the past two days felt terrible. It let me know how good I’ve been sleeping for the past 10 years.”

    1. List of rappers who want all the smoke in a battle and will never apologize during war: Sean Price, Nas, Prime Jigga, Tupac, Eighball, KRS One, LL Cool J, Cassidy, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Papoose,. J Cole let me down! Charla is crazy lol

      1. The beef culture is dead and played out. Also, Eightball never had beef. The only rapper Eightball dissed was Tela. Other than that, he never went to “war” with another rapper that was on his level during the 90s.

      2. What beef culture buddy?? Yaul soft as baby shit….it’s jus a rap battle scary ass…only lyrical lead not real bullets Sabastian

      3. Nobody is looking for these fake beefs anymore. Lol, it was cool in the mid/late 90s and 2000s, but it’s played out because there are too many rappers and every rapper has beef. It’s lame and boring now. In order for something to have value, it has to be scarce. Hip hop doesn’t have value because everybody is a rapper and has beef. Mac Jones is a rapper, LOL.

      4. Let’s dissect that list. Pac got shot and went crazy on everybody. Biggie never responded to Pac when he was alive, so is he pussy? Fifty dissed everybody associated with Preme and Murder Inc. after he got shot, same as Pac. Jay and Nas had personal issues with each other. Jay actually fucked his baby mama, and Nas didn’t fuck with him when he was coming up. You’re lying about 8Ball. KRS went at Shan because he went at him first and there was some street animosity there. Lil Wayne famously didn’t go back at anybody and used to ignore anybody dissing him outside of that stupid baby money diss at the end of Carter IV, which was just as goofy as this shit we just witnessed. Canibus dissed LL on some personal shit between him and Wyclef’s camp, and LL just came back at him. Cassidy is an actual battle rapper.
That’s what he does. He has barely had any mainstream success as a solo artist, so I don’t even know why you brought him up. So none of these so called rap battles resemble this dumb shit, near 40 year olds who have worked alongside each other for damn near a decade in and out of the studio.

    2. Hip hop needs to be an independent, underground, music culture. Major labels have destroyed hip hop/rap music. 90% of these beefs are concocted by labels/marketing departments. Most of these rappers don’t know each other, yet they suddenly have “beef” Artists should stop signing away their integrity for an advanced/loan. I believe J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar were forced by their record label to start this “beef”. Just like the Future and Drake “beef”. It’s not a coincidence that those “beefs” started simultaneously.

      1. Man that shit u typed is s0 fuckin irrelevant…ain’t nobody force SHIT. PERIOD. Cole got dissed, responded, then thought this shit over LMFA0 FOH…wit all the bullshit

      2. J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar are both signed to the same label. This was a money grab in order for the label to sell because hip hop is in red. Just like that so-called 50 Cent and Kanye West “beef”. Everything in mainstream hip hop is fake. Hip hop is fake, and people who get caught in this bs are sheeps. The beef is fake.

    3. The beef culture is dead and played out. Also, Eightball never had beef. The only rapper Eightball dissed was Tela. Other than that, he never went to “war” with another rapper that was on his level during the 90s

      1. I don’t recall 8Ball dissing Tela. Ball never dissed anybody to my recollection, even when Three-Six was bubbling in Memphis in the early 90s and seemed like they might clash at some point just to do it.

    4. It’s truly amazing. J Cole is so mature. As a 35 year old man, I could never imagine apologizing to someone I respect for saying something I didn’t really mean. He’s soo mature and amazing! Not a weak petty baby like Pac or Biggie. Big baby whiny losers!

    5. All this from a guy who how many times got yours a$$ whipped out on the streets of NY. Yeah your always that bigger person, please kill that narrative fam. Carry on!!

    6. Friendly reminder. Guys like Charlamagne and Vlad do not contribute to the culture. They are just modern versions of gossip magazines and they push false-narratives.

    7. This is refreshing to see in life, never mind the music industry. It takes a healthy character, not only to realise they’ve made a mistake but to openly voice they’ve made a mistake.

    8. Why does everybody act like Section 80 doesn’t exist

TPAB is not KDot second album it’s his 3rd

      Section80 1st
      GKMC 2nd
      TPAB 3rd
      And so on so forth

If you sleeping on Section 80 wake up it’s a classic
