Released on Wednesday (February 21), the Philly native holds nothing back as he takes shots at himself on the Beats By N.U.G-produced effort.

“#Battle rap back. I’m my only competition,” he wrote in the caption of a clip shared to social media.

Fans in the comments were elated about the drop, with replies among the likes of, “Damn, I feel like a kid again,” and, “My favorite rapper of all Time this is the vintage Cassidy I grew up to and look up to.”

One person loved it so much they actually got upset with him for releasing the song without an album attached.

“Nah Cass, what are you doing??? This was supposed to be on your new album, WHY are you releasing this? I don’t get it man, as dope as this was, I’m very disappointed.”

This isn’t the first time Cassidy has battled himself on wax, previously doing so on the 2005 fan favorite, “The Problem vs. The Hustla.” The song served as the opening track on his sophomore effort I’m A Hustla, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, with 93,000 copies sold in the first week.

More recently, Cassidy took some shots at his peers as well on January’s “Rap Katt Williams.”

The song referenced a deep list of names to assert the dominance of his pen game while playing on Katt Williams’ explosive Club Shay Shay interview.

In addition to dismissing mumble rap and briefly revisiting a spat he had with Meek Mill, The Problem addresses the drama surrounding Diddy.

This not a diss, I put a song with Puff out before/ It’s all love but I ain’t been to Puff house before/ I ain’t got nothing bad to say about the boy/ But once you get your foot in, it’s hard to get out the door.”

In a similar spirit but far more straightforward, he adds: “Tory Lanez stole some bars that was actually mine/ Now he behind bars that’s an actual sign/ That committing robbery is an actual crime/ And I literally inspire all these rappers who rhyme/ Rappers acting real till they facing actual time/ And on God, rat singing like a chapter from Psalms.”
