Cam’ron may be steadily reinventing himself as a media personality/mogul, but he it appears he isn’t ready to leave the rap game alone just yet.

In a video posted to Instagram on Sunday (July 9), the Dipset representative revealed plans to release a new mixtape on July 28.

His post also contained a snippet of a song from the project, which finds him spitting slick, braggadocious bars over a soulful, hard-hitting beat that feels reminiscent of the Diplomats’ heyday.

“No gossiping, I don’t deal with side talk/ I don’t look for spots, man, I park on the sidewalk/ I told the cop, ‘I don’t care, I like to risk it/ I’ll have another car here before you write the ticket,'” he raps on the unreleased track.

In his caption, Cam hinted at a return from another rap retiree on the tape: Ma$e.

“Just warming up. @itiswhatitis_talk mixtape July 28…,” he wrote. “#IIWII the new DEATHROW[.] WELCOME TO THE ROW N-GGA[.] We just got to summer leauge too!! Vegas we here!!! And by da way the old MURDA BACK!!!! @rsvpmase.”

Cam’ron’s caption refers to It Is What It Is, the rapidly rising sports talk show he and Ma$e launched at the beginning of the year.

Currently, the series is available to watch for free on YouTube, but thanks to the Harlem duo’s wildly funny (and uncensored) commentary, as well as the occasional insider scoop, it has drawn plenty of interest from across the industry.

In May, Cam revealed he was close to signing a deal for his popular sports show, although he didn’t specify with which network or company.

It Is What It Is on YouTube,” he said during an interview with FOX 5’s Good Day New York. “Soon getting ready to do a deal. We won’t say with who yet. I got a lot of people. I could have done a deal a month ago but I just want to weigh my options out. So we’ll figure it out.”

That came shortly after Cam’ron hinted at bringing It Is What It Is to Diddy’s REVOLT empire — which prompted Ma$e to joke about his long-running financial dispute with his former Bad Boy boss.

“God pls tell @diddy bring the briefcase cause I can’t swap this out for publishing @mr_camron [crying face emojis] [fire emoji] #ThrowInTheTowel #NoLol,” he joked under an Instagram post of Cam and Puff linking up in Miami.

While further details have yet to be shared, Cam’ron’s upcoming mixtape will serve as his first full-length solo project (if it is indeed a solo project) in four years following 2019’s Purple Haze 2.

Despite repeated retirement talk over the years, the 47-year-old hasn’t completely abandoned music altogether. Last year, he released the long-awaited U Wasn’t There with A-Trak and reunited with Ma$e and Jadakiss for “G.L.H.”

The song was meant to coincide with the trio’s 3 Headed Monster Tour, and while the trek ultimately got canceled, that didn’t stop them from delivering a one-night-only concert at Harlem’s famed Apollo Theater in January.
