Cam’ron has revealed he was starstruck the first time he met The Notorious B.I.G.

The “Hey Ma” rapper shared the story on the latest episode of his sports show with Ma$e, It Is What It Is, which aired on Thursday (January 25).

His comments were prompted by co-host Treasure “Stat Baby” Wilson bringing up LeBron James’ recent confession that he thought Michael Jordan was “Black Jesus” the first time they met.

“Maybe not Jesus Christ, I’m not going that far,” Cam said. “But I’ma be totally honest with you: when Ma$e took me to Biggie Smalls’ house, I was like, ‘Yo. We did it.’”

He continued: “You gotta realize, Ma$e already got songs with Biggie and they worked together. But I really wasn’t going to the studio in the beginning because, you know, Ma$e had to get his feet in the door. I had to just stay home because it was his turn and he wasn’t [supposed] to bring the whole crew in the beginning.

“I’m not no n-gga who gon’ be kissing ass. I remember Ma$e was staying on 123rd. Biggie and the rest of Junior M.A.F.I.A. pulled up in front of the building to come see Ma$e, and Ma$e went downstairs. They didn’t tell me to come — pause […] I had to stay upstairs and just wait.”

The Dipset spitter then recalled Ma$e finally introducing him to Biggie and having to put on an air of cool the first time he rapped in front of the late rap legend.

“We from Harlem; we too cool,” he said. When Ma$e sent me to Biggie Smalls’ house to rap for him, I acted like I’d been there a thousand times. No smiling, no handshakes, no ‘Yo, what’s up?’ Throw the beat on and I’ma rap — that was that. I would never embarrass my man like that and be on no, ‘Oooh weee!'”

The story begins at about the 22:30 mark of the video above.

In an earlier episode of the show, Ma$e remembered bringing Cam’ron to The Notorious B.I.G. instead of Diddy — whose Bad Boy label Ma$e and Biggie were both signed to — while trying to help his childhood friend get a record deal.

After being quizzed by Cam about why he chose to set up a meeting with Biggie instead of Puffy, he explained: “It’s almost gonna bring me to tears to say this. Being that I saw you as such a good friend, I wanted to put you with somebody I knew [would do right by you].”
