Boosie Badazz has recalled one of his finest memories of DMX following an electrifying performance he witnessed from the late rapper in his younger years.

During a recent interview with Sway’s Universe, the Baton Rouge rapper discussed how powerful it was to see X on JAY-Z’s 1999 Hard Knock Life Tour. Method Man, Redman, and Beanie Sigel, were a few of the other heavy hitters on the bill.

As much as DMX was known for his electrifying energy, it was a quiet moment, a prayer, that caught Boosie’s attention. “He made me cry,” Boosie told the hosts. “I was 14 years old… I saw him perform in Jacksonville, Florida…When he said that prayer at the end, me and my cousin was holding hands crying.”

He continued: “It was my first big concert that I had ever been to. ‘Cause I had got in trouble for the summer so I had to go live with my people in Jacksonville and my uncle took me to the concert…I never seen nothing like that in my whole life.”

In another segment of the interview, the rapper recalled more moments from his youth, including the time Pimp C saved him from jail as a teenager.

The “Set It Off” rhymer spoke fondly of the late UGK legend and said the latter came to his aid when he was jailed on a stolen car charge.

“I was 17 I was in jail on a..stolen car charge I had to remain for 90 days, and he came and got me out of jail,” Boosie said at the 15-minute mark, adding that he didn’t have any relation to the rapper.

“I called my mama and my mama like, ‘Some guy named Pimp C and these boys they’re trying to get you out of jail boy. You know Pimp C?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, I know Pimp C!’ A couple days later, I don’t know they pulled some strings and got me out of there,” Boosie said. “I did like 60-something days they got me out and the rest is history.”

He continued, “We went and rode around, ate, smoked some weed. Chilled out, talked to me. Went in the studio, made a couple songs … the whole point about it is Pimp C was the decoy. I thought I was signing to Pimp C, I thought he was the CEO by him being so tight with them I thought he was the big dog cause it was Trill Entertainment. Trill is Pimp C, so I come to find out he wasn’t in the paperwork but I thought he was my CEO the whole time.”
