Bill Maher recently recorded a two-hour interview with Kanye West – but he ultimately decided to pull the plug because it wasn’t the learning moment he’d hoped it would be.
In a preview of TMZ‘s forthcoming Kanye-themed episode of their show TMZ Investigates, the famed talk show host explains that he axed the episode because Ye continued his antisemitic rhetoric and Bill did not want to contribute to push that to the masses.

“The problem I think is he that he appeals mostly – of course, he’s a rockstar – to young people,” Maher starts. “They don’t know much and they surely don’t know much about the Middle East or Jews, so the combination of Kanye out there… I feel like he sort of was helpful for spreading the fertilizer – and I do mean fertilizer – for this idea that Israel and the Jews are like, the worst people in the world.
“I had Kanye right here at [my podcast] Club Random. We did an episode with him. I thought it was going to be a learning moment. I mean, we were here for 2 hours. By the way, we had an amazing fun time. He’s a very charming anti-Semite. […] That’s why I wouldn’t air that episode. Because I’m not going to contribute to this.”
TMZ apparently asked Consequence to participate in the show as well, but he revealed earlier this week that he’d turned it down out of loyalty – as the special is mainly about Kanye West’s “controversial comments.”
On Tuesday (February 6), Cons shared a screenshot of texts between him and Ye from a few weeks back in which he told the mogul that he will not be taking part in the project.
In response, Ye wrote: “That’s love.”
His caption read: “Loyalty over Royalties. I was approached by @TMZ to be featured in their special ‘Kanye West: Unhinged but Unstoppable.’ I myself have had great interactions with Harvey and Charles but anyone who really knows YE would know that he would feel leveraged and exploited by this move even if you’re speaking on him in a positive light.”

He continued: “That being said, even with what has recently transpired, I opted to pass… All Money ain’t G.O.O.D. Money. QUEENS GET THE MONEY.”
The full episode airs Monday (February 12) at 9 PM ET on FOX.
