Big Daddy Kane Performs At Jill Scott’s Wedding

Big Daddy Kane surprises Jill Scott with wedding performance.

Singer Jill Scott’s wedding to longtime boyfriend, Mike Dobson over the weekend was detailed in a series of now-deleted, Instagram posts uploaded by DJ Mars. Mars, who is a good friend of Dobson’s, revealed that he was unaware that his friend of 20 years was marrying the Philly songstress.

“So my man called me a year ago and said, ‘Mars I need you to DJ my wedding…don’t get booked on June 25th 2016!’ He came to my house and gave me the deposit early, but he didn’t say he was marrying Jill Scott!!!!! Damn homie!!!!!!!!!!,” DJ Mars wrote in the caption to an Instagram upload, according to Billboard.

DJ Mars also revealed that Scott and wedding attendees were treated to a surprise performance from New York City lyricist Big Daddy Kane, during the reception. According to the Atlanta-based DJ, Scott was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected performance from Kane.

“So, Mike Dobson called me and said, ‘I’m going to surprise my wife during the reception and have Big Daddy Kane perform,'” Mars wrote in an Instagram caption. “He then says, ‘Mars you call Kane to work it out.’ So im gassed because I’m on the phone strategizing with arguably one of the best rappers period (top 5 of anyone’s list)! Me and Big Daddy Kane on the phone, im geeked! No one knew but me and the husband knew he was about to perform. Dude walks in and they didn’t even recognize him until he starts rapping. Her face is soooo priceless! #jillscott #mikedobson #bigdaddykane #djmarsapproved.”

Prior to exchanging vows with Mike Dobson over the weekend, Jill Scott was married to Lyzel Williams for six years.

    1. Don’t expect hip hop DC or its readers to understand. Hip Hop is culture not a genre of music. This wedding Jill Scott reaction etc. is what Hip Hop means.

Now it’s reduced to relevancy, monetary gain, bad publicity, and website hits. I dare today’s rap artist to come back some 28 years later performing at a wedding of someone who just attended summer Jam 2016.
