With his long awaited Sir Lucious Left Foot album on the way, Big Boi seems poised to make a return to the charts. Recently, one half of OutkastDetroit Free Press about the new album, his various guests and he even gave some information about what it might take to give fans another spoke to the ‘Kast release.
“I’ve been working on this Sir Lucious Leftfoot album for three years now. You gotta know if I’m giving away songs like ‘Shine Blockas ‘ for free, oooh, what does the album sound like? I’m ready to get it crackin’. It sounds like it’s from another planet.“
“Expect what you’ve been getting from OutKast for the past 15 years. It’s definitely funkified, full of bass, hard-hitting beats. The lyricism is straight top notch.”
In regards to guests, Big Boi has enlisted long time collaborators and new ones.
“I have Dungeon Family sprinkled throughout the album. I did a record with Jamie Foxx that Lil Jon produced; it’s ridiculous. I also did a cut with T.I.”
“I just can’t wait till people get it, man. They been waiting and hitting me on the Twitter and on the Facebook and on the MySpace. They want the music so bad, and I can’t wait to roll it out.“
Finally, when asked about another Outkast record, he had this to say:
“What you got to remember first and foremost is it’s all about the music — we want to keep having fun and funking them, yeah. If you have a creative mind and a spirit and desire to create something new, then you want to have different outlets such as film, television and fashion to go along with the music,” he said.
“All the other antics and things that go along with it, that’s fine and dandy,” he continued. “But those are distractions from what is the real goal and that’s to spread the funk, make the best music possible and represent A-Town.”
“And, depending on how the fans support them solo albums: Well, we’re cooking this music up real good — so you gotta go out and support and then we’re gonna give ’em the ‘Kast record.”
