Beyoncé arrived to the premiere of her Renaissance concert film with a look that was described as “shimmering” and “stunning” — but internet commenters had a different take.

Photos of the singer at the movie premiere wearing a Versace gown and with waist-length hair in what Vogue called “a Targaryen-worthy shade of ice blonde” appeared strange to a few onlookers, with some going as far as to compare the pop icon to Kim Kardashian.

“I thought this was Kim Kardashian until I read the caption,” wrote commenter on a Neighborhood Talk repost of Bey’s photos from the event, while another added: “So Kim is brown. Bey is white. Got it.”

A number of people felt that Beyoncé appeared white, or at least lighter than she had in the past.

“Baby who is this white woman?!” one person commented, while a second wrote: “Yall coming up with all kinds of excuses talking about the winter changing her skin color it only been winter for two minutes that ain’t it.”

A few fans came to Beyoncé’s defense, with one explaining: “If you’ve ever seen Beyoncé in person you know she’s very pale and spray tans … this her natural color.”

Another added: “I can tell a lot of y’all know absolutely NOTHING about hair color, skin tones, Lighting etc! Also She is of Creole decent as well. Yall think everybody bleach. Use your common sense sometimes!”

Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé is set to have its global premiere on Friday (December 1).

The movie’s final pre-release trailer opens with Bey’s six-year-old daughter Rumi Carter recording her mother and her grandfather Matthew Knowles backstage using a phone, before she is advised to hold it in a landscape angle rather than portrait.

“Rumi, now I teach you a trick, you gotta turn it to the side,” the Houston native says while facing the device.

A little later in the teaser, the 42-year-old shares one way in motherhood has shifted her perspective, saying: “Time is my biggest obstacle. It’s impossible to not realize how fast it’s going when you’re looking through the eyes of your children.

“I think about all of my heroes and all that they endured — I know that all of my struggle and sacrifice is opening the door for the next. They are the new beginning.”
