Beanie Sigel Recalls Saving Kanye West From A Robbery

Even though they may be at odds now, Kanye West and Beanie Sigel have a history that goes as far back as the self-titled opener from Beans’ debut The Truth. Now, in an interview with DJ Vlad, Sigel reminisces about the time that he had Kanye’s back in a very tight situation.

Beans recalled saving Kanye West from a possible Roc-a-Fella chain jacking one time in a diner. He says that a couple of strangers had sat down with ‘Ye and his friends while they were eating and began to menace the crew. Kanye put out a call to Beans, who came to the diner and muscled the potential robbers away from the producer.

“He felt threatened,” he recalled. “[I let the potential robbers knows] nothing was going to go down – not while I was there. Nothing was going to happen to him…[Kanye] wasn’t being paranoid; they had chairs pulled up to his table where he was eating at with his friends, and they wasn’t eating…it was real. They’re plates of food was cold; they ate only a couple of bites, and it was just like a wait off, like, ‘Hurry up, and would you come out here?’ It was going down. So I got there and I asked Kanye, ‘Yo, do you know this guy right here?’ He was like, ‘Nah,’ and I just pulled the charm from [under] him, and Kanye had his jewelry tucked in on him, and I was like, ‘Take your chain out’ – that was like a badge, that Roc-a-Fella chain…[the jackers reacted to me] as they should [and took] a little more than a few steps [back].”

    1. May be the only rapper with real skills that you can bet is 100% real in the streets…if Beans said he did it, he did it, for better or worse. Kanye knew who to call…Broad Street Batman!!

    2. To me, so many rappers talk like they so hard and they run this and they run that but Beans is the only one I truly believe handles his business in the streets. I could be wrong but whenever I hear or read an interview with him, I believe it happened the way he said it happened.

      1. kanye never claimed nor portrayed himself as a gangsta figher or a tough guy…now if a nigga like 50 did that….than you would have a valid point

    3. i like kanye music, but lets keep it real dude is a bitch who acts hard
      same with jay-z

beanie is the streets – broad st bully

    4. Jay may’ve been raised up in the gutter, sold some rocks and done a little dirt, and Memphis Bleek too, but in the Rocafella Crew, Beans have always been the one with the stripes. And no Kanye ain’t that hard, but I don’t think it’s a reason to diss him at all. Because on the contrary to a lot of rappers who talks about being real G’s, while they’ve never done any dirt, Kanye never pretended to be any kind of thug. Besides that Kanye has added a new dimension to the rap game, by expanded it, making it able for middle-class guys to make rap records too.

      1. De La Soul, Tribe etc were middle class, pretty sure Chuck D was too. What Kanye did was make it ok for yuppies to rap about being materialistic idiots which is boring and as conformist as hell. Before that only gangsta or street rappers were materialistic, but it was entertaining and non-conformist..

      2. Do you even understand what “non-conformist” means? How are you non-conforming when you talk about a Benz?

Quit acting like Kanye is the reason for shitty rappers. That was happening way before him and will continue way after him.

As for middle class, how the fuck is any of the names you mentioned middle class?

Kanye made rap a little more accessible to the average person in America, which is a middle-class white person, whether you like it or not. He spoke about feelings, situations, relationships, etc., thing we can all relate on.

Did he do it while talking about stunting? Of course. But name a rapper who didn’t do that at one point in his career. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

      3. Smh @ Anon not knowin De La and Tribe’s biggest fanbase has been predominantly middle-class whites for the past 2 decades… >.< Yeah Kanye's ok musically when he wants to be and he gets props for the shit he did bring to the game, but don't go givin credit that ain't due to him...

      4. And yes, those groups WERE middle-class too. They never hid that, it’s always been common knowledge. Know the history of this shit before you throw your opinions out there so matter-of-factly. And I can name of plenty of emcees who don’t stunt in their shit…I don’t do the goofy ass lists but Immortal Technique, dead prez and Paris are just a few examples. Your wait is officially over.

    5. Beans is constantly bringing this shit up. Either that or reporters keep asking about it. Either way, it’s a tired ass story.
