It’s been a decade since AZ has dropped an album. With such a long time out of the spotlight, the veteran MC has chosen to reintroduce himself with a mixtape titled Legacy.
AZ’s new project is a collection of freestyles and features he’s done over the years. The DJ Doo Wop-hosted tape is comprised of 23 songs, including the recently released “It’s Time” freestyle over Kool G Rap and DJ Polo’s classic “It’s A Demo.”

Dude has been ridiculously quiet the past decade. I think he first announced Doe or die 2 in like 2010, because I remember Statik Selektah mentioning it while doing promo for the 1982 album with termanology. That’s a long ass wait, hopefully it’s worth it
All time great MC. He’s had a classy career. He could’ve sold his soul along time ago, but he didn’t. Stand up guy, great lyricist. I’ll put his rhymes on “Rather Unique” from 1995 up against anything out right now.
I… had some problems….. YOU KNOW!
Visualizin’ the realism of life in actuality / Fuck who’s the baddest, a person’s status depends on salary. / And my mentality is money-orientated / I’m destined to live the dream for all my peeps who never made it!
Nas/AZ album with Premo on production. Superb!
That ship has sailed man. Let it go. They’re different people, with different styles, and a different aim. And Preme is semi-retired. Peace.
Premo ain’t going nowhere, he’s still active
Semi-retired? Don’t say shit before you actually know what you’re talking about. He’s not retired and is very active.
Honestly I would put him over nas and it really wouldn’t be close
