Ashanti and Nelly have looked every bit the happy couple since rekindling their romance last year, but the St. Louis rapper has quickly learned not to poke fun at his fiancée’s pregnancy.
Nelly took to his Instagram Stories on Sunday (April 28) to share a lighthearted photo of him struggling to hide his discomfort as a very pregnant Ashanti sits on his knee.

“Of course not beautiful I’m fine..!! Luv u2 @ashanti,” he joked in the caption, as if responding to the singer asking him if he’s in pain.
Ashanti then shared the post to her own Instagram Stories and jokingly threatened to beat up her baby daddy-to-be for teasing her.

“Lmaoooooo!!!! Babe!!!! Ima knock u out!!!!!!” she wrote.
Nelly responded by pleading ignorant, before attempting to placate Ashanti by reassuring her she is the same size as she was back when they first started dating.

“What my love..??? I didn’t say anything..!! To me you still the same size you were in 2005..!!” he wrote.
Ashanti replied: “Lmfaoooooooo!!!! Lemme go pull out these bikini shots from 05!!!”

Earlier in April, Ashanti finally confirmed the longstanding rumor that she is expecting a baby with Nelly.
In a video posted to Instagram, the singer made the reveal with a scripted skit in a fitting partnership with Proov fertility tests and Essence magazine.

In the backstage clip, the 43-year-old’s team calls for her to take the stage before her mother and manager Tina Douglas asks: “Shan, how much time you need?”
As Ashanti enters the frame, she replies: “Uh, I’m gonna need about nine months.”
Nelly was also tagged in the video, which was captioned: “Baby baby baby baby…” — a nod to Ashanti’s 2002 single “Baby.”
Shortly after the social media clip went live, Essence published an interview with Ashanti in which she also revealed she and Nelly are engaged.

“Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancee, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”
