Apathy Delivers “The Widow’s Son” Featuring DJ Premier, Pete Rock & Pharoahe Monch

Demigodz rapper Apathy has devoted his life to Hip Hop and now, he’s back with his sixth solo studio album, The Widow’s Son.

Featuring Pharoahe Monch, Pete Rock, Nottz, DJ Premier, M.O.P., Celph Titled, and Buckwild, among others, the project marks his follow-up to 2016’s Handshakes With Snakes —  one of HipHopDX’s Most Slept-On Albums of 2016.

Ahead of the release, the Connecticut-bred MC released the Pharoahe Monch-assisted, Pete Rock-produced “I Keep On” and the Nottz-produced “Alien Weaponry.” He teased a third single, “The Order” earlier this month featuring production from DJ Premier.

    1. Yo, that’s an amazing album in general, but what makes it a bit harder to flow for me is the contrast in it. It would be even greater for me if it had concentrated on the darker, grimier stuff, like Hypnosis, Chaos, Spellbook, Legend of the 3rd..etc… Tracks like Rise n Shine and I keep on are still outstanding as well but they ruin the mystical dark vibe for me (which even the album’s name and cover suggest).

    2. Wow. There are many symbolic secrets in plain sight with this album. Great album and even greater symbology. Hip hop meets masonry!

    3. Apathy is one of the true lyricists who’s getting better with age. So refreshing to hear this instead of all the recent mumble rap bullshit.

    4. Jsuk, it’s better to actually buy this album than pirate it if you want you precious ‘reel hip hawp’ to live

    5. Real hiphop. The album is still growing on me but my top three tracks now are “stomp rappers” , “the order” and “view of hell”. Its amazing to watch his shit grow poetically since the early 2000s. His imagery is insane these days. Fucking razor sharp lines over some raw boom bap beats and sick cuts. Must cop for any true underground hiphop head.
