André 3000 and Sexyy Red maye sit on different sides of the Hip Hop spectrum, but they have a lot more in comment than meets the eye.

The two rappers appeared on the latest episode of LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s The Shop where they bonded over a mutual appreciation of being doubted and criticized.

“They still don’t believe in me, so I just be like, ‘I’ma show you who I am,'” Sexyy Red said during the barbershop conversation, which also featured designer Jerry Lorenzo, BMX athlete Nigel Sylvester and comedian/actress Jiaoying Summers.

“They don’t understand we really came from nothing and then we be making big achievements. Like, that’s something for us. And then they just be like, ‘You ain’t doing nothing.'”

Sexyy’s remarks resonated with the OutKast legend as he interjected: “Fuel. Use it for fuel. Hater fuel, man, it’s the best shit. It’s free energy.”

Sexyy Red replied: “I like it when they talk about me, I ain’t gonna lie,” to which 3 Stacks then said: “That shit free energy, that make me go in. I love when somebody doubts you.”

The “SkeeYee” star concurred, adding: “Ummm hmmm. ‘Cause I’m now finna show you something.”

After André 3000’s comments, one fan jokingly posted on social media: “ANDRE 3000 YOU BETTER STICK TO THAT LIL FLUTE BOY YOU COULD NEVER PUT OUT A 14 TRACK RAP ALBUM WITH A HIDDEN BIG-BOI FEATURE ON THE LAST TRACK AND COLLABS WITH FRANK OCEAN, JAY Z AND KENDRICK LAMAR!!!!!!!!!!”

Both artists have dealt with their fair share of criticism in recent years but for very different reasons.

3 Stacks diapponted some fans after releasing his first ever solo album last year, but it turned out to be an instrumental project that revolved around the flute with no rapping.

Sexyy Red, meanwhile, has faced backlash for her provocative music and political opinions, which included an endorsement of controversial former president Donald Trump.

“I like Trump,” she said on comedian Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast last year. “They support him in the hood. At first, I don’t think people was fucking with him. They thought he was racist, saying little shit against women.

“But once he started getting Black people out of jail and giving people that free money — aww baby, we love Trump. We need him back in office. We need him back because, baby, them checks. Them stimulus checks. Trump, we miss you.”

Sexyy later said that she would not be endorsing any candidate in the 2024 presidential election: “It’s Sexyy Red 4 President [American flag emoji] I’m my own candidate I’m not endorsing anybody period [kiss emoji].”
