The Alchemist has proven his beats age like fine wine by revealing that he used an almost decade-old instrumental for his new song with Courtney Bell and Royce Da 5’9”.

The Alfredo producer took to Instagram on Monday (February 12) to reveal that the instrumental for “Westside” has been brewing since 2015.

In the clip, Alc bangs out the ominous, hard-hitting beat on his MPC2500 while bopping along to it behind the camera.

He captioned the post: “2015 work. Stays fresh. No preservatives. [lemon emoji, apple emoji, grapes emoji].”

Despite The Alchemist posting a link to “Westside” in the comments section, fans had plenty of suggestions for who they wanted to hear on the beat, with one writing: “I wanna hear Roc Marci rap about luxurious floor tiles and foreign engineered stovetops on this beat.”

Another said: “Hear [Boldy James] all over this [fire emoji],” while someone else chimed in: “I could hear [Curren$y] and [Westside Gunn] on this.”

Fellow Detroit rapper Zelooperz was also impressed by the instrumental, commenting on the post: “mannnnnnnn.”

“Westside” is far from Royce Da 5’9″ and The Alchemist’s first collaboration. The producer placed multiple beats on the Slaughterhouse alumni’s early mixtape Build & Destroy, as well as his debut album Rock City and 2011 LP Success Is Certain.

While it’s unclear if they have any more plans to work together, The Alchemist has no shortage of music in the pipelines.

Last month, the prolific beatmaker was spotted cooking up in the studio with Kid Cudi after they teased doing a joint project together on social media.
