A$AP Ant Says Baltimore Is “Harder Than ‘The Wire'”

As an artist who grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, A$AP Ant recently shed some light on his hometown, which was depicted on the former HBO television series, “The Wire” years ago. During an interview with Vlad TV, A$AP Ant was asked if what was depicted on “The Wire” was an accurate depiction of the city of Baltimore.

According to A$AP Ant, Baltimore is 10 times worse than what viewers saw on “The Wire.” The A$AP Mob member also spoke on transitioning into a grown man and leaving the petty crimes of his past in the past.

“City go harder than ‘The Wire,’” he said. “That’s [all] I’m gonna say. You see dangerous things, but it’s 10 times worser than that. But it gives you a glimpse of what Baltimore is. I’m not gonna knock ‘The Wire.’ Cause they did do a good job of exposing how people really act. They really got people that really talk like they from Baltimore…I been running around the streets. You feel me? Hopping in stolen cars and shit like that. You feel me? But that’s just regularly growing up in Baltimore. Any Baltimore kid gon’ experience that. You know what I mean? And it’s a way that you can’t let that shit corrupt you. We did that at a young age. We was teenagers. We grown men now.”

Despite A$AP Ant’s claims that Baltimore goes harder than “The Wire,” he says improvements have been made to the city and that there are nearby towns that have prospered.

“It’s like they still got that dope fiend area around there,” A$AP Ant said. “You get what I’m saying? So, it’s like they just now—the community, the city is now trying to fix them houses and rebuild them. [Destroy] and rebuild new shit for the community. They trying to open like grocery markets and stuff like that around the burnt out areas. But other than that it’s cool. Got some good towns and people out there…But really it’s a lot of towns, and people in there do art, music, clothing.”

As a member of the A$AP Mob, A$AP Ant has recorded songs with Soulja Boy, A$AP Rocky, Flatbush Zombies, and a handful of other artists.

      1. Born raised Harm City Murderland and it is not that Hard” this kid is trying to get a rep… do it on your lyrics or flow not how “Hard” your town is.

      2. ^^ Mayne this shit ain’t new, ever since N.W.A came out niggas be focusing too much on how shitty their towns are instead of stepping their skills up

      3. I used to live in Hamilton, MD back in the day. Hamilton is east Baltimore. Now currently residing in Glen Burnie in Anne Arundel County.

      4. I’m writing down all these places so I can shoot all you niggas up in the near future. Rock on, you faggots.

      2. These youngsters dont know jack about an actual war but r quick to talk that shit, no place in america can compare to the middle east

    2. New Orleans is way harder than Baltimore. If the most hardened criminal from Baltimore ventured down here to New Orleans, he’d be the fucking water boy. New Orleans is more dangerous than Chicago, Syria and Afghanistan. This is why everyone knows not to step to my boss, Birdman, or his son, Wayne.

      1. “New Orleans is more dangerous than Chicago, Syria and Afghanistan.”

That was a bit of a reach.

      2. Almost half of all murders in New Orleans occur in broad daylight. That’s not the case in Chicago or Afghanistan. Syria may be a reach, but I would say that most of the members in Birdman’s blood army are as seasoned and ready to kill as rebels in Syria.

      3. I’d have to agree it is a bit of a reach.

Lil’ Wayne ain’t from the hood. Always been a studio gangster.

      4. ^
Ha, hes just a troll and theyre just rappers. Dentaldamboy can teach you a lesson or two about not taking random shit people say seriously. Especially those who write bs over tha internet and those who get paid for talkin on the mic.

    3. I think he’s missing the point of The Wire; It’s not about accurately portraying how “hard” Baltimore’s street life is; It’s about exposing how institutions, and the people who comprises those institutions, have failed urban America, Black America – leaving it for dead, so to speak, and doing so in the wake of the removal of the jobs they depended upon via the outsourcing of all our manufacturing, which left some 15% of the population without any options to begin with.

    4. Who the hell is this?
