Shreveport, LA

50 Cent has hit back at Shreveport state senator Sam Jenkins after the politician raised concerns about him snapping up an increasing number of buildings and land in the city.

Jenkins, who is a Democrat, spoke to The Shreveport-Bossier City Advocate about the G-Unit mogul’s growing property portfolio, which include leasing a huge film and TV studio, a pending lease for the former Expo Hall/Stageworks and have expressed interest in the Red River entertainment District under the Texas Street Bridge and various vacant buildings.

Jenkins cautioned that the city should “pump the brakes a little bit” on such deals, adding: “Let’s try to see what else is out there.”

He also said: “I’m just simply saying, let’s just be careful how far we go and begin to look at some performances based upon what we’ve already pledged or promised to do.

“This is about the city and the responsibility of the city and city council those people make sure that they are answerable to our citizens about what we’re doing with those assets down there.”

50 Cent quickly hit back at the comments on Instagram, writing: “Sam Jenkins must not want things to turn around in Shreveport. Who would not do a deal to wait for a imaginary deal to come? Or maybe he just lacks faith in me, what do you think?”

He then posted images of some of the assets he has purchased in Shreveport and said: “This is phase ll I just bought the Le hall building +4 other properties down town. It appears to be upsetting people, but I don’t understand why nothing was active. Dr king said people from Shreveport were very peculiar!”

50 Cent’s substantiative investment in the Ratchet City was recently put at risk as Louisiana threatened to end tax credits for film and TV productions, leading to the rapper to question his future in Shreveport.

However, it was ultimately decided that the state would keep the incentive, albeit with a $25 million reduction — a decision that was warmly received by 50.

He wrote on Instagram after the ruling: “Man they had my ass sweating! WTF, we back in action watch. GLG GreenLightGang [film camera emoji] I’m coming with some heat.”
