50 Cent and Ice-T are among the rappers preparing to say goodbye to Twitter as it continues to seemingly implode under Elon Musk’s leadership.

After news broke that the social networking company temporarily locked all employees out of their office buildings on Thursday (November 17), #RIPTwitter started trending with anecdotes, jokes, concerns and everything in between.

Fif and Ice were among those with jokes, while others like Tory Lanez and Joell Ortiz were trying to figure out what was happening.

“Hey is any body at work today? Twitter,” 50 asked his 12.6 million followers, while Ice-T tweeted: “I LOVE TWITTER….! But if it implodes ‘I’ wont lose 44BillIon dollars.. Just sayin.”

Tory Lanez and Joell Ortiz didn’t seem to get the memo yet.

According to BBC News, Twitter employees got a memo Thursday that the offices would be closing effective immediately, and would reopen on Monday (November 21). The message landed on the same day Musk had made the final day for current employees to decide whether to stay for his new “long hours at high intensity” regime, or leave and get a severance package.

With 5pm PST Thursday being the deadline to make their decision, employees were reportedly quitting en masse, signing off on the company-wide Slack channel with salute emojis.

Since Musk’s $44 billion purchase of the company at the end of October, Twitter has been riddled with issues including mass layoffs of key people (that Musk later tried to lure back to the company) and a failed launch of the paid Twitter Blue subscription that resulted in a large crop of purchased blue checks spreading misinformation as they impersonated public figures.

Soulja Boy didn’t take kindly to the latter scenario, so much so that he decided he’s going to create his own app instead.

“Now u can just pay to be verified? Twitter has been destroyed,” he tweeted on Saturday (November 11). “Bro leave twitter alone @elonmusk wtf are you doing… I can’t believe this. Fuck it I’m going to create my own app. Bye Twitter.”

Doja Cat has also expressed her displeasure, as the “Juicy” artist found herself unable to change her display name as she usually does amid Musk’s changes. She went directly to the source to get it fixed, who was happy to respond and help out.

“Working on it! Pretty funny though,” Musk wrote to Doja.

Despite the issues, Musk seems to be keeping his cool, even tweeting memes that poke fun at the rumors the site will implode. He also claims that as of Thursday night, they “hit another all-time high in Twitter usage.”
