Katy, Texas

50 Cent, Drake and The Game were among the high-profile celebrities who were registered to vote under the same address without their consent.

Last week, The Houston Chronicle reported that a number of artists had their names submitted on August 15, 2023. Records from the Harris County Tax Assessor’s Office indicate that the above names plus Trey Songz and Chris Brown, none of whom case a ballot in the most recent elections, were falsely registered in Texas.

The reason this went through was because federal law doesn’t require people in the state to provide an identification, driver’s license or Social Security Number as part of the process — applicants only need to share legal names and birth dates.

As a result, those responsible for the prank went through with the act by putting each name down under a residency in Katy, Texas.

Furthermore, the person/people behind it all even signed papers that clearly stated the repercussions of their actions: “I understand that giving false information to procure a voter registration is perjury and a crime under state and federal law. Conviction of this crime may result in imprisonment up to one year in jail, a fine up to $4,000, or both.”

“These people are either committing high misdemeanors or felonies,” UT Austin law professor Randall Erben said about the matter. “This is not fooling around.”

Though 50 Cent may not vote in Texas, he did recently flirt with the idea of supporting Donald Trump in the upcoming elections while blasting New York City Mayor Eric Adams for his proposed program of handing out pre-paid debit cards to migrants.

In an Instagram post that has since been deleted, the G-Unit mogul expressed his frustration with the program, which is a temporary salvo until the beneficiaries are issued the paperwork that would allow them to get a full-time job.

“WTF mayor Adams call my phone, I don’t understand how this works — somebody explain,” the rapper wrote in his post. “Can’t explain this I’m stuck maybe TRUMP is the answer.”
