50 Cent has pointed the finger squarely at Ja Rule after the New York Knicks were eliminated from the 2024 NBA Playoffs, ending a promising postseason run.

The Knicks were beaten 130-109 by the Indiana Pacers in game seven of the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday (May 19) in front of a hopeful but ultimately heartbroken home crowd inside Madison Square Garden.

Following the defeat, the G-Unit general wasted little time in jumping on social media to blame his longtime nemesis.

“If you’re wondering why the Knicks couldn’t get the W, here you have it. SMH who let this fool touch the trophy [trophy emoji] [facepalm emoji] LOL,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

50’s post was accompanied by a screenshot of Ja Rule holding and kissing the Larry O’Brien Trophy, the coveted prize awarded annually to NBA champions (which the Knicks haven’t been since 1973).

The former Murder Inc. rapper appeared in a video with the trophy just two weeks ago as part of the promotional campaign for the NBA playoffs.

“Champions only, baby. Let’s go Knicks!” he said with a huge grin on his face while wearing a Knicks shirt.

The clip was met with dismay from Knicks fans, with many accusing him of “cursing” the long-suffering team, who at that point were 2-0 up against the Pacers.

50 himself joined the chorus of criticism by tweeting: “This janky ass [ninja emoji] put his juju all on the team. Fuck that I’m bet my money on the wolves! LOL.”

After the Knicks lost game three of the series, a vindicated Fif once again blamed Ja Rule: “Man I told yall don’t bet on the knicks this janky ass [ninja] was holding a trophy, the shit just didn’t feel right now look. [raised eyebrow emoji] I told yall stay away from that fool smh ya don’t listen!”

The “Always On Time” hitmaker later hit back by calling 50 a “fed” and a “goofy.”

While injuries to key players including Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and Julius Randle were a big factor in the Knicks’ loss to the Pacers, they wouldn’t be the first NBA team to be cursed by Ja Rule.

Back in 2019, the rapper claimed to have placed a curse on the Minnesota Timberwolves after a halftime performance for the team was widely mocked.

In response to a snarky post from the team’s official X (then Twitter) account, Ja wrote: “You just jinx yourself talking to the GOD this way… your CURSED NOW!!! You won’t win a championship for the next 30 years… AND KAT IS LEAVING!!! Apologize and I’ll lift the CURSE!!! [blowing kiss emoji] kiss of death.”

The Timberwolves haven’t won an NBA championship since, although they could break this purported curse having booked their place in the Western Conference finals after defeating reigning NBA champions Denver Nuggets.
