50 Cent Announces Dr. Dre’s Next Single, Talks Interscope Records

Earlier this week, 50 Cent went into attack mode on Twitter, lambasting his long-time label Interscope Records for prolonging the release of his latest single “Outlaw.” Now, in a recent interview with MTV, the G-Unit general gave some insight into what fueled his recent Twitter rant.

According to Fif, releasing a new single has always been a multi-step process that has involved the clearance of the higher-ups at Shady Records, Aftermath Records and Interscope. This time around, however, the process was hampered by 50’s spat against Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine and mentor Dr. Dre over the release of his own line of custom headphones. Despite this, 50 says that Dre and Iovine are not to blame for the mix-up; rather, he says there are other parties involved that were holding up the release of “Outlaw.”

“So I had the record I was ready to launch, and we sat down and everybody talked,” he said. “What happens is, there are a lot of people involved in my actual launch, because its three parties; it’s Shady, then you got Aftermath, then you got Interscope, and then you got me on my end. So by the time we got to go sit down with [Interscope chairman] Jimmy [Iovine], we talked a little bit, and then I ended up having to go see Dre, because we had the little issue, the confusion about the Twitter stuff.”

He said, “It’s not necessarily Dre or Jimmy [holding up the process]; it’s more the guys that they pass the responsibilities onto. It takes longer for people, because they’ll be like, ‘OK, we’re gonna do this and we’re gonna do that,’ and the building will start having those conversations, but they’re not actually moving at that point.”

50 also took the time to announce that he will appear on the next single for Dr. Dre’s long-awaited third solo LP Detox, titled “The Psycho.” Fif explained that after the two artists resolved their argument over the release of Fif’s custom headphones, it was business as usual, and “The Psycho” was the end result.

“We sat down, we cleared that [Twitter argument] up, me and Dre, and then we said, ‘Let’s just get back to the music and do what we do,'” he said. “Immediately after, we wrote a song together called ‘The Psycho’; it’s Dre’s next single.”

    1. who the f*ck cares anymore? the press needs to dead Detox coverage. the word “Detox” is less associated with drug use and has now become the word to describe something that will never happen

    2. Why would 50 put out headphones when he knows damn well that was Dre’s thing and here 50 comes and bites Dre’s shit? That shit is bogus as all hell. 50 seen he could make a few extra bucks and just shits right on Dre in the process. Thats some sucker shit and for a guy who has enough money to start up just about any type of business he wants he just had to dick ride the good Dr.

Worst part is I don’t even hate 50 like must you haters. His skills need work on the mic and start doing it like he’s hungry again or do it for the love if he can’t get motivated cause he reached the top. Either way I’m just sayin the headphone ordeal was a Sucka move!

    3. And what exactly has Dre worked on over the years? ‘I Need a Doctor’ was made fairly recently, and so was ‘Kush’. And now this, recorded after he and Fif resolved their little issue, which is also very recently. Dre’s just full of shit.

      1. I’d imagine Kush was made several years ago when Akon was actually very popular (not saying he isnt now but just more so back then.) But maybe I’m wrong. I need a Doctor, The Pyscho, Under Pressure, and Die Hard are all clearly recent though.

    4. Damn…Im with snoop..Dre needs to get his old crew and do this damn album, I mean not to knock on Eminem but I really dont want to hear a white boy screaming over a smooth west coast flow but what has dre came out recently that had that smooth flow that we’re used to the west coast coming out with? Anyways, I feel like maybe dre has lost it, I mean music changes, being out for like 10 yrs and trying to come out with something new would be kinda hard to find that niche, I guess we have to support the new west like nipsey and glasses malone who i feel is very underrated…

    5. what I dont get is dre’s been working on this cd for a decade yet fif comes in and they decide to write a hit after their small argument and its his new single. where are all the bangers hes spent years tweaking?

    6. This guy still has no control over his own fucking life, they own the nigga!

Try’s to bully rappers but in reality is just a small fry in that big corparate pond!

      1. no control over his life??? pretty sure dude just signed a multi-million dollar film distribution deal.. #makingmoves

    7. WE COME STRAPPED AND SEND DEATH THREATZ TO BUSTAS AND FAKES AND ITS STILL A COMPTON THANG . GOTTA CHECK EM WITH THAT MUSIC TO DRIVE BY

    8. more of the same ol bullshit excuses from the Aftermath/Shady camp. We dont wanna hear that shit yall talking. Shut the fuck up and drop the music.

Lame ass excuse about too many people to talk to between label heads. How Eminem manage to reconcile with Royce and drop a album in almost no time, and 50 or Dre cant drop one single for either of they albums?

      1. Eminem has the midas touch. Anything he touches goes platinum, because of his fans, so interscope isn’t going to give a shit. I bet Dre isn’t dropping detox because he feels he isn’t ready, and 50 last Cd did horrible, I think Gold, so they don’t want to drop anything unless they are sure it is going to sell.

    9. dre and 50 is a good look for a single.. hate him or not, 50 can write a good radio single for dre.. maybe the single will blow and finally get interscope movin on droppin that damn album… but, the single wont be at #1 for ten weeks in a row, so they wont drop the album… fuck the bullshit for real.. they should just keep droppin singles off detox till the whole shit is realeased.. #downloaddetox.fuckbuyingit

    10. It fucks me off when artist’s can’t make a original song 50 already done Psycho with Em on B.I.S.D.

    11. eat a dick 50 with your bullshit lyrics about money and bitches. grow up little child, you fuckin wanksta

    12. this is crazy everything is something with 50 everything is blown out of purportion. We need to take our place under God and help change people for the best anything less is uncivilized. You can read and listen to the whole Bible at http://www.christianlivingbible.com Change your life and everyone around you today become a Christian and Start listening and reading the Bible daily

    13. Uh, is it me or does it seem EVERY week 50 got something to say about EVERYTHING? This cat has been unsuccessfully trying to generate a buzz about himself real strong for about 3-4 months. Music, movies, headphone, commentary about other artists: all wasted energy. His time has passed and he can’t accept it. No one is checking for 50 anymore. Not consumers, not Em, not Dre and not Jimmy. Its kinda sad to see him grasping at straws like this. He’s supposed be a General, right?

    14. nobody cares yet so many of you took the time to read an article that had a title including “50 cent” smh, then you took the time to read some of the comments then leave one yourself lmmfao.

As for 50’s album, I jus wanna here new music and not excuses about why it’s pushed back.

    15. know wat be crazy is joell ortiz an lloyd banks made a album together,i think 50 should do sumthing crazy like make a album with sumone

    16. mmm dre hasn’t received good feedback from his supposedly “leaked” tracks so far nor are his official releases very enticing. i think he may have gone back to his lab with his pen and his pad..

    17. Hi. This is a message for Eminem, and anyone at Shady Records.
I want you to download and read my book – “The Lottery Code” which I have
made available for free on the Internet from http://www.thelotterycode.net

I would love to collaborate with you on an album, and would like you to use some of
      my lyrics.
In 1995, I discovered a hidden code in the British Lottery and in 2006 I cracked
the code. It revealed 302 messages.
      All perfect for rap music.
      You have my email address.
      God bless you.
