50 Cent addressed Dr. Dre and “old friends” in an Instagram post made today (June 26).
“LMAO DAMN MY OLD FRIENDS don’t want to see me up either DRE!!! LOL #fuckEM #smsaudio #animalambition.”
The post features an image of Dr. Dre posing with N.W.A and a photograph of Dre posing with Apple’s Tim Cook, Eddy Cue and Jimmy Iovine.
Dr. Dre, Iovine, Cook and Cue made headlines this year when they announced Apple’s acquisition of Beats Electronics and Beats Music. The acquisition was rumored for some time and confirmed in May. Apple reportedly purchased Beats for $3 billion.
Dr. Dre signed 50 Cent to his Aftermath imprint prior to 50’s 2003 release of Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. The two worked together throughout 50’s career and he recently said their friendship remains intact.
“I’m a special case and situation,” 50 Cent said after leaving Shady/Aftermath/Interscope. “It’s also because of the leverage of having the strong relationships with Eminem and Dr. Dre. They don’t want to me to be uncomfortable. They value our friendship to the point that they would never want [to jeopardize] it over that little bit of money.”
