Chris Nieratko: Speaking Real Words

Rap writers aren’t the coolest folks in the world, just get to know one. They’re often pretentious, self-loving recluses that spend more time trying to rub shoulders with so-and-so than actually listening to records. Chris Nieratko, while he’s so much more than a “rap journalist,” has interviewed folks like EPMD, Big Pun, 50 Cent and Charli Baltimore for publications such as XXL and Rap Pages.

Still, the rap interviews, which can be read [here], dwarf in comparison to some of Nieratko‘s anecdotes on life. While his essays have been published widely, and some of those essays, appeared disguised as porn reviews in the widely-read Vice magazine. With life lessons, drug trips, and trashy romance – and smut intertwined Nieratko represents that hero amongst us. The reviews resonated so strongly, that they appeared as an anthology, Skinema, published by Vice. Still, if reading isn’t your bag, you might recognize Chris from his Cool Hand Luke egg-eating debacle with his buddies in the Jackass movie.

To close out HipHopDX‘s “Porn Week,” one editor used the theme as an excuse to soak up game from one of the greats of the industry. Discussing Hip Hop, writing and porn, Chris Nieratko tells it like it is, pulling no punches – whether interviewing Erick Sermon or talking about life.
