Some of Asia’s most exciting rappers—Indonesia’s RAMENGVRL, Mongolia’s Mrs. M, Japan’s OZworld, and Thailand’s Tsunari—are among the first roster of artists showcased in asiatic.wav Vol.1, the first installment of the compilation series by the newly established regional label under Warner Music Asia.

Of the track, the Indonesian rapper said, “I always try my best to speak facts about the things around me, even if it’s a bit controversial. Like kids with the hottest shoes but never really wanna pay the bills, or like people who think they’re above everyone and everything now becoming the thing they hate the most—it’s just funny to me. But i’m trynna make it fun as well in this track—like spitting facts doesn’t have to be THAT serious, we can all laugh about it.”

The five-track first volume, out today, includes RAMENGVRL’s club-ready “FACTS,” which sees the Indonesian rap star return to her old sound. Meanwhile, Japanese rap mainstay OZworld’s “Cry 4 the moon” is a hypnotic number that showcases the Okinawan native’s range. London-based Thai-Trinidadian rapper Tsunari brings her pan-Asian background and culture to the forefront with the catchy “Cinematic.”

The EP also includes previously released singles “Pills,” a collaborative track between Thai indie-pop singer-songwriter Phum Viphurit and Hong Kong viral star Thomas Ng; and “Daughter of Khan” by Asiatic.wav’s latest signee, Mongolian rap superstar Mrs. M, whose music video for the track has since had over 1 million views on YouTube in less than a week.

The remaining two compilations of the asiatic.wav series will be released quarterly. The second installment is set to arrive in July, which will include “YOUGOTIT” by Vietnamese rappers Bwine, Kim Nguyễn, Minh Lai, and Anh Phan, with production by local favorite ANNAM, among other yet-to-be-announced surprises.
