Asian hip hop artists made it to Apple Music’s ‘The 100 Best Songs of 2021’ list.
Skusta Clee, SB19, VannDa, CL, NIKI, and Afgan join the likes of Saweetie, Cardi B, Drake, Doja Cat, Lil Nas X, and BTS in the high-profile list. “We saw hip-hop and drill music continue to dominate our charts, as female country artists continued to be major creative forces and dance-pop continued to thrive,” reads the playlist description.
Filipino R&B artists Because and Fern., Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna, and Japanese singer-songwriter Joji, South Korean K-pop group BLACKPINK member LISA also made it to the list, alongside numerous Southeast Asian pop acts. Filipino-American singer-songwriter Olivia Rodrigo, who made her debut just this year, topped the list with “driver’s license.”
