Sometimes Hip Hop can move at a pace too frantic for even the most devoted fan to keep up with. Albums and mixtapes are released at breakneck speed, careers are made and broken with the swipe of a pen, and somewhere in between all the madness actual music (the quality of which vacillates between excellent and god awful) is being made. Twitter provides a nice summary of everything 140 characters at a time. And if you’re the type that would rather not be bothered with stepping into the Twitterverse to catch up on the latest in Hip Hop, we’ve filtered through the top rapper’s tweets and consolidated all the week’s events into one convenient feed.

This week, Future announces the release date for his sophomore album, Honest, Lil B resumes his beef with Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant and Alicia Keys teases an all star collaboration with Pharrell, Kendrick Lamar and Hans Zimmer. Check the rest of the week’s top tweets below.

Hip Hop collectively took to their social media accounts to honor the memory of the Notorious B.I.G. on Sunday, March 9, which marked the anniversary of his death. While Instagram and Twitter were filled with generic, stock images of Biggie, Busta Rhymes shut the game down with a pre-Ready To Die image of himself, B.I.G. and a young, baby-faced Puffy. The picture itself spoke volumes, but Busta also nailed the caption, speaking for the multitude of Hip Hop heads that think B.I.G. each year on March 9.

For reasons known only to the “Based God” himself, Lil B has decided to reestablish his one-sided beef with Oklahoma City Thunder forward and perennial NBA All Star, Kevin Durant. In the midst of possibly netting another scoring title and possibly league MVP honors, KD has understandably been mum on the various Twitter shots Lil B has sent in his direction. Regardless, it appears Lil B wanted to remind everyone of why he thinks he has legitimate reasons for this cyber beef by re-posting Durant’s tweet from May, 2011. It looks like Lil B has a lot of free time on his hands if he’s hunting down three-year-old tweets. Swag?

Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams and Kendrick Lamar know a thing or two about awards. And they could be lined up for more honors, as the trio has collaborated with famed composer Hans Zimmer on the song “It’s On Again.” Wednesday, Alicia Keys tweeted he song will reportedly be featured on the soundtrack to The Amazing Spider Man 2, and Skateboard P corroborated the news with a tweet of his own. Williams and Zimmer have previously worked together on the score to Despicable Me 2, Man of Steel, and the music program for the 84th annual Academy Awards. If their track record is any indication, Keys and K-Dot may want to invest in some ridiculously large hats…it seemed to work well for Pharrell.

Cam’ron Accuses Va$htie Of Stealing His Dipset Socks

Last week Killa Cam took to Instagram and hinted at a return of the infamous Diplomats branded Pro-Keds sneakers. This week, we see photographic proof of the rumored $150 Dipset socks. Cam’ron had some fun at Vashtie Kola’s expense, jokingly accusing her of trying to swipe a pair of the Dip-socks, posting, “Why is @vashtie tryna steal the Dipset socks? She said “$150 is too much.. Can I just take a pic with…” Not for nothing, but $150 is a bit pricey for socks. Be forewarned. On the song “Let Me Know,” Cam was quoted as saying, “I’m a businessman, I ain’t trying to be lyrical.”

ScHoolboy Q Tiredly Tweets From SXSW

SXSW is taking a toll on some of your favorite rappers. ScHoolboy Q tweeted for help from the music conference noting that he’s sick and has had time for only one meal a day. That’s what one assumes after reading that he performed three shows in one day. Hopefully, Q rested up and regained his strength and voice and his appetite to keep going if he has more shows to perform during the weekend. Or we guess that other request he had would help too. Check out Q’s iTunes Festival performance at SXSW, here.

Childish Gambino Thinks Music Should Be Free

Lil Wayne Hints At New Release This Week

Lil Wayne was the latest guest on CRWN, Elliott Wilson’s interview series, and while the interview has yet to be released, attendees took to Twitter to share highlights from the conversation. During the interview, Weezy assured everyone that he’s working hard. We believe him. With the Young Money compilation album Rise Of An Empire out, Weezy is now solely focused on the final of the Carter series, Tha Carter V. Somewhere during the “working hard” conversation, it looks like Wayne might have mentioned that he’ll be dropping “something” this week. A new track, perhaps? We’ll keep our eyes peeled.

Possible Jay Electronica & Drake Collaboration Premiered At SXSW

SXSW goers were amazed when legendary producer Just Blaze threw on a track featuring both Jay Electronica and Drake. The collaboration has yet to be confirmed by both parties and Just Blaze but whoever heard it on that rooftop soiree seems to be convinced of what their ears witnessed. The last time we heard a big verse from Jay Elect was on Big Sean’s controversial song, “Control,” even though Kendrick Lamar’s bars easily drowned out the other two on the track. Last night, Jay Electronica released a new introspective track titled “Better In Tune With The Infinite,” which is a hopeful indicator of more music to come. We’re guessing that a Drake-featured track will circulate even louder once it drops. It also could easily be Drake’s track too. Who knows. Just Blaze’s hard drive knows.

Tyler, The Creator On Driver Involved In SXSW Tragedy

Many music events hold open bars and with all the liquor flowing, something bad was bound to happen. Unfortunately, tragedy struck SXSW and 2 people passed away when a drunk driver drove through a busy barricade set up for people to cross. The incident happened just outside of the venue where fans were lined up to see Tyler, The Creator perform. Tyler’s show was instantly cancelled and he tweeted, “Show Isnt Happening, Something Sad Happened. I’m Bummed.” A day later, when more details started trickling out to the public, Tyler had some strong words to say and mentioned that he’s had a “bad experience” when it comes to drunk drivers. Stay safe, SXSW.
