9 Beloved Yet Overrated Albums From The 90s

9 Beloved Yet Overrated Albums From The 90s

First thing’s first: despite what heated message board debates will make you think, “overrated” and “wack” aren’t the same thing. All of the albums in this list are good, or even great. But when we say that these are overrated, we mean that the Hip Hop head consensus of them is higher than what the music actually delivered. The mid-90s has earned its status as arguably rap’s Golden Era (aside from 1988), but that lens makes some fans see artists and albums as better than they already are. For all the flawless five-mic classics from that time period, there were plenty of four-mic albums and three and a half-mic albums, too—records that are solid and satisfying, but fall short of the hall of fame status they’re associated with.

Don’t let 90s romanticism or 2010s resentment cloud your fan meter: an album dropping in the 90s doesn’t mean it’s a classic. Read below for our most overrated rap albums of the 1990s.

    Tical

    Method Man, Tical (1994)

During his rise to stardom in the early 90s, Method Man seemed to have every piece of the puzzle: sharp flows, a distinctive voice, rhymes that always stood out, and some of the most palpable star power that the genre had ever seen. His debut Tical didn’t fully capitalize on all he had promised with his verses on Enter the 36 Chambers or Biggie’s “The What.” Even with its hit records (“You’re All I Need,” “Bring The Pain”), Tical doesn’t hang with indisputable 90s classics like Ready To Die or The Chronic, and it isn’t even as great as the classic Wu debuts by Ghostface, Raekwon, and GZA. To be fair, this likely isn’t his fault: much of the original album was lost after a flood of RZA’s 36 Chambers studios. The album still stands Method Man’s best work; it just didn’t capture his moment in rap history.

    Twista - Adrenaline Rush

    Twista, Adrenaline Rush (1997)

Twista has earned his spot as Midwestern rap royalty, but Adrenaline Rush isn’t the classic that it’s hailed as. Yes, he delivers the rapid-fire flow than just about anyone else to consistently use it, but that’s where it ends: the lyrics themselves don’t stand out from anything else, and the production is uneven. The importance of Adrenaline Rush is undeniable for Twista’s city, region, and career, but it doesn’t have the songs to stand the test of time in the complete context of rap.

    Big-L

Big L, Lifestyles Ov da Poor & Dangerous (1995)

Big L will always be remembered as one of the most tragically-slain emcees to ever pick up a microphone—before his tragic shooting in 1999, he had the potential to truly go down as one of the greats. But his ’95 debut Lifestyles ov da Poor & Dangerous is remembered more for what Big L could’ve been than what the album actually amounted to. Despite gems like “MVP” and “Put It On,” the album is mostly raw talent—it didn’t have the polish that his contemporaries like Nas, Biggie, Raekwon and others had already established around then. The Big Picture showed an upward trajectory, but sadly, his chance to fulfill that potential were cut short.

    Busta_The_Coming

    Busta Rhymes, The Coming (1996)

The Coming is an illustration of a truth that isn’t acknowledged enough in rap: a legendary rapper’s first album isn’t automatically a classic. Busta Rhymes is unquestionably a rap icon, and his debut established him as one of the genre’s most distinctive voices that would become a consistent hit-maker for years to come. But the album’s production didn’t measure up with the vibrancy that Busta brought to the mic—again, it didn’t measure up to the east coast standards that were being set during that era.

    Wu-Tang Forever

    Wu-Tang Clan, Wu-Tang Forever (1997)

Between Enter The 36 Chambers and huge solo albums like Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Ironman, and Tical (which also has a place on this list), Wu-Tang Clan had taken over the rap world with their one-of-a-kind mix of gritty rhymes and martial arts. But Wu-Tang Forever has too much to sift through, and there’s no way around it. While 36 Chambers maximized each of its 13 songs, Forever uses 27 songs to brazenly show that their formula worked. There are plenty of great beats and rhymes here, and it even holds up better than other double-disc rap albums; but much of it is unnecessary, especially when you consider that many of the songs on the classic solo albums were group efforts anyway.

    Common_Resurrection

    Common, Resurrection (1994)

“I Used To Love H.E.R.” is one of the best rap songs ever recorded, and Resurrection represented a complete shift in direction for Common to become the conscious rap spokesman we associate him with being today. But those two factors and mid-90s nostalgia have steered Resurrection into perception as Common’s five-star magnum opus, instead of what it really is: a very good album that only cracks at the potential that he would unlock years later. The criminally-underrated One Day It’ll All Make Sense has better No I.D. beats and more dexterous rhymes, and Like Water For Chocolate finally saw Common’s maturity and rhymes catching up to each other to meet at the same pinnacle.

    Master_P_D

    Master P – Ghetto D (1997)

Master P’s dominance in the 1990s can never be discredited: his entrepreneurial and marketing brilliance led to No Limit Records having one of the best runs rap has ever seen. But years later, the iconography—the tanks, the camo gear, the flooded release schedules, and even the memories from that era—have more ground than the music itself. Ghetto D is an example of that. Beats By The Pound’s workmanship behind the boards was commendable, but the rhymes just don’t hold up. Besides, no album with 11 appearances by Silkk The Shocker can be that good.

    Mos_Def

Mos Def, Black On Both Sides (1999)

Writing this is painful: Black On Both Sides is the most formative album period for this writer’s musical tastes and personal growth, and it rightfully earned Yasiin Bey (formerly Mos Def) a place in hip-hop’s hall of fame. When BOBS is focused, it’s unstoppable: the concepts of “Mathematics,” “New World Water,” “Habitat” and “Mr. Nigga” are masterfully executed, and songs like Ms. Fat Booty and UMI Says are truly magical moments. But there are also songs that either fall victim to their bravery (“Rock N Roll”), interrupt the album’s cohesion despite being good (“Climb”), or settle on a plateau that sits a level beneath the album’s peaks (“Speed Law,” “Do It Now”). The pros obviously outweigh its flaws, so it’s still a phenomenal album. But Yasiin also benefited from charisma and marketing—a memorable album cover, his individual star power, and a brilliant Air Jordan campaign—that evaded other Rawkus masterpieces like Pharaohe Monch’s Internal Affairs and Hi-Tek’s Hi-Teknology that were arguably just as good.

    eminem_9

Eminem, The Slim Shady LP (1999)

Eminem blew the rap world open with The Slim Shady LP, using his mix of humor, self-deprecation, and demented storytelling to become one of rap’s instant stars. The rhymes still hold up, and it’s easy to see what made Dr. Dre so confident in making Em his new franchise player. But the lyrical brilliance and shock value overshadow a weakness that juts out even years later: the production. The beats by the Bass Brothers, who produced 11 of the album’s 14 songs, are bland and forgettable compared to the electricity Eminem brought to the mic. Dr. Dre’s legendary ear was clearer on Em’s future albums—whether producing half of the songs himself like on Marshall Mathers LP, picking better beats from Bass Brothers, or showing Eminem the ropes to produce his own work on The Eminem Show. But despite its flaws, Slim Shady LP’s role in rap and pop culture is indisputable.

    1. Welp last day i visit this site because when Black on Both Sides, The Coming, Ressurection, Lifestyles Ov da Poor & Dangerous are overrated well then all credibility is lost. This shock value clickbait shit isnt cute anymore

    2. Very shortsighted. Much of the reason why hiphop today is struggles to break new ground; no respect for art or originality. Terrible article…try again bruh.

    3. real talk people need to stop doing a top 10 albums from the 90’s that’s shit is idiotic there were so many albums from that area that can be in anyone’s top 10 group home living proof is in my top 10 but i’m sure its not on everyone list you can’t make no list from the 90’s just bring gem’s to light.

    4. Worst fucking article ever. Is it April fools??? I’m not a Em fan but that album was HEAT!!! And Wu forever first disc is CRACK!!! …..and Jesus Christ did u just put big L’s album up. Such disrespect. Hope y’all were hacked and apologize to everyone

    5. DX has officially lost their fucking minds. The only album I’ll give you is Ghetto D. Yall can go to hell for the rest of this list.

    6. HHDX is bout to realize ther readership doesn’t give a fuck about ther opinion because their perspective is constantly proven to be horse shit.

When have they done any op-ed and ppl agree with them? It’s not even a little bit close. I think HHDX needs to hire writers with actual voices and solid tastes in Hip Hop because whatever you are doing right now isn’t working well with your viewers. If it hasn’t happened yet, you’ll soon see all the click-baiting and bs articles are gonna hurt your overall traffic. Eventually. Ppl are fed up with the bullshit. Get better or die slow death.

    7. Tical was never considered a classic even back then so i dont know why it would be considered overrated when the truth is: it is underrated. Common – “Ressurection” is his best album by far and a classic. “Be”
only comes closest to another. “One Day it all will make sense” was nowhere near as good. It was more derivative and there plenty similar albums made before it. The only album i agree with you here with is Mos Def. “Black on Both Sides” was a huge dissapointment after “Ultramagnetic”

    8. What the fuck is this? If you’re week is that slow hip hop dx, purchase a colouring book or word search.
Don’t make up absolute BS and put down established and much treasured classics from a culture you supposedly base your website on..

    9. wack article…Tical is UNDERRATED if anything…it’s probably the best produced Wu solo album (maybe with Liquid Swords).

    10. Tical? ..wow, how old is dude who wrote this album? ..and, was he listening to Adel or something before he wrote this? .. that album is dope! Dark, but dope! ..still one of my favorites, but I can see how someone might not understand that kinda vibe… but, still ??
      >

    11. Not sure about this list at all….. Wu-tang forever is criminally slept on. Slim Shady EP was dope and his 2nd best album to date (MM LP is the best). Common’s “Resurrection” was super dope and Black on Both Sides…. C’mon!!

    12. I agree with every album on here! The key is living in the times these albums were released. I remember every album dropping and being more hyped about them, than actually idolizing them like I did a lot of the other classics at the time. I remember when i first heard Illmatic, Ready to Die, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, Liquid Swords, The Infamous, Doggystyle, and others that are undeniable classics! These are all good albums, but none are Classics! Real Talk! If you don’t agree, then you’re taking this more personal than subjective!

    13. HHDX continues to get worse and Worse, you can’t even take this website serious anymore, Whoever picked this list should be shot first of all Resurrection is without a Doubt Common’s best album and is Vastly underrated, The Coming is classic my favorite Busta Rhymes Album, Wu-Tang Forever is a very good album far from overrated, Slim Shady LP i admit some people do overate this album and Black on Both sides is imo not overrated but is borderline Classic but still dope and Ghetto D? Lol i didn’t know that was even considered a classic at all but ok overall many of these are underrated to be honest so fuck you HHDX.

    14. Be Clear. Every album on this list is better than everything made in the last 5 years. In 15-25 years are we even going to remember the music dropped in this era? I honestly don’t think so.

    15. Troll articles.. It’s what these shitty sites do now days. ‘Well say something controversial, so much easier than being a real journalist’.

    16. This article sucks, who writes this shit??? Pay me half n I can write a way better NON-BIAS article then this pos article. Smh. Unfollowed after seeing this trash

    17. Why the hell is Wu-Tang on here? That album is great, the album I can see being on here is Master P but that’s cause I’m more of a lyricist fan and maybe Busta Rhymes “The Coming” not because it’s bad cause there is no way it is that album is great but it’s not a classic like everyone says it is(in my personal opinion)

    18. Did you say ‘Ghetto D’s’ lyrics don’t holdup?? As compared to what the ‘Ice Cream Man’ album?? P was never trying to be Nas with the flow(and stop the Silkk hate’n it’s corny) Where’s Jay-Z’s ‘In My Lifetime vol.1’ since we talking overrated from the 90’s

    19. I totally disagree with black on both sides, I here what your saying about those tracks which seem to interrupt the album cohesion, I often also skip those tracks but that doesn’t change the fact that the album is a classic, your wrong with slim shady lp again, in my opinion that is M’s best album ever not the mmlp !

    20. Who writes this bullshit. Probably some fuck boy with no real hiphop background. All the MC’S you listed are very much underrated except master p’s bitch ass. FOH HIPHOPDX!!!

    21. Ive been reading HIPHOPDX since 2001 and I must say this must be the worst Piece of crap article I have ever written. I managed a website Called Threesixphive.com for several years and I would have never written this. My boys at Nahright would never write something this disgraceful. How can you put Mos Def, Eminem and Method Man’s best work till date on this list.

HIPHOPDX if you really want to stay relevant please persist from writing such garbage articles just to get traffic. Also whoever Mr. Ketchum you have no idea what Hip Hop is why don’t you go write for Vice, Rollingstone or something else. You probably think Kendrick Lamar or Lil Wayne are the best MC’s ever.

    22. Black On Both Sides Overrated? Damn First The Source with 4 Mics Then Rolling Stone With 4 Stars Man I swear Dante was just too ahead of the Curve. The Best reviews of that album came from Rapreviews.Com and HipHopSite.Com Giving it a Perfect Rating which it deserves Tical overrated? yeah HipHopDX hasn’t been the same since J-23 left Damn shame……..

    23. Lol Tical overated? It’s hardly even discussed when talking about the greatest hip hop albums ever made. Big L lifestyles ov da poor & dangerous sure has some questinable bland production (I don’t understand it, fed up wit that bullshit, no endz no skinz) but has more good then bad and the lyricism makes up for it. Lmao busta rhymes the coming had flawless production what is hip hop dx smoking???? That is his best album! If any busta rhymes album is overated it’s E.L.E, whoooooawhoooooa! Common resurrection? Mos def black on both sides? Overated? Really hip hop dx? Those are underated if anything stop trolling. Wu tang forever although not as cohesive as 36 chambers is practically the greatest double disc hip hop album of all time! That’s a fact. Eminem slim shady lp I can agree with somewhat, although it is one his best efforts however there is alot of piss poor hit & miss production like my fault, cum on everybody, as the world turns, & I’m shady. I can care less about twista & master p

    24. I actually agree with DX on this one. All of these albums are overrated except for Common’s. Black on Both Sides is a great album, but it should never be lauded as a classic, because there are some filler tracks on there. It ain’t up to par with classics like Reflection Eternal and Black Star. Mos is overrated in general, the nigga is too scared to battle Lupe because he knows that Lupe would body the living crap out of him on the mic. There’s levels to this shit and Lupe’s a better emcee with more classic albums. Tical is overrated, shit ain’t in the same league as the Purple Tape, Ironman or Liquid Swords. All of those albums are classics. Eminem doesn’t have any classics, while he’s a talented technical emcee, his music is hit or miss garbage like Tupac, there is no consistency, to much mindless screaming, hating and nonsensical bullshit just to sell albums.

      1. While I mostly agree with you I think undersell Mos as an emcee. That Eminem shit is gonna get these fuck boys mad lmao. You’re right though.

    25. Huge fan of Wu, Mos, and Big L.
Tical isn’t the as great as the other solo debuts, and I agree is a bit overrated. ‘Stimulation’ and Meth vs Chef are classic songs from that album.
      Master P is overrated.. Period.
Twista is overrated and has been irrelevant the past 10 years.
Em is a talented lyricist, but his production has always (save Dre beats) been questionable. Today, Em is not the same hungry savage he was on his first 2 albums, his flow is different and he’s just kinda wack now.
Common is a great actor and average MC, important to hip hop, but not great.

Big L and his only true LP are way UNDERrated. He may be the most underrated MC ever.
If you don’t know his shit, go check out Lord Finesse and his mid 90’s joints featuring big L. Some of the best verses ever. Listen to them- trust me.
As for Wu- Forever and Mos’ BOBS, both classics. No debate.
Game-changing and life changing hip hop albums right there.
Where are any of Jay-Z’s albums??
Those are pretty much all overrated. Too bad we can add all the new crap with Drake and Weak Mill and these tin can sounding pop beats with empty lyrics to the overrated list….

    26. FUCKING SHITY LIST!!! You damn near named the best albums of the 90’s lbs. Im from chicago so i feel some kinda way to named the two biggest staple albums two our greatest rap ledges: Common and Twista….Yall wildin. smh

      1. Facts my dude! I’m from Chicago too and as soon as I saw Adrenaline Rush and Lifestyles of the Poor and Dangerous on here, I knew this list was garbage AF!!!

    27. The only albums really considered classics on this list are Common and Mos, and even then it’s hardly fervently. Kind of lazy, really.

    28. I think as a whole the 90’s was mad over rated period. there are mixtapes coming out better than a tribe called quest stuff truthfully. those beats for that time frame were nice but truthfully. Chance the rappers stuff is destroying that musically. 2pac ran the 90’s and he is mad basic. Kendrick will destroy Pac so will J cole and a host of other cats. people love to always say their era was great.lol play me against the world right now after to Pimp a butterfly lol. play bone thugs after J cole forest Hill. is the low end theory up there with. Big krits mixtapes .lol um no. sorry . and I grew up on rakim but nowadays thats monotone and boring

      1. Yeah of course you grew up listening to Rakim, you fucking 2000s kid queer. J cole better than Pac? Yo mama mustve dropped you on the head as a baby and now you went Full retard

      2. I honestly don’t think Kendrick Lamar is better than Pac. There is no denying that Kendrick, Jcole, and Drake are better than some rappers from the 90s. You can see that era influenced them. But they are not better than the greats.

Take some time and listen to Pac’s whole Mackavali album and let me know what you think.

      3. Is that the same Tupac Kendrick ended his “classic” album with? The same Tupac’s name his album title almost forms an acronym for? Listen, I know many out there like to throw ‘Pac’s name around on some hipster/I don’t follow the norm shit or just for trolling purposes but come on son. “Kendrick would shit on Tupac.” Fuck adda here.

      4. I noticed ur not mentioning nas’s illmatic album,or jay z’s reasonable doubt album or biggies ready to di album etc the new albums u mentioned are just hot for NOW.See if they stand the test of time.

    29. HHDX must not have a high threshold for who can submit articles on behalf of their brand as a solid source for Hip Hop content. This is a joke, right?

    30. There has to be a generation gap issue here. Ghetto D? yeah, I’d agree, Tical I understand, I remember getting Tical and expecting more, Twista was ok not great, but Mos Def, Common, Wu Tang, and Eminem are reaches. If you were born in the late 80s or early 90s this type of review makes since because the change in the sound of music between the 90s and the 2000s is so dramatic but if you’re a 70s early 80s baby you should never create a list so ridiculous.

    31. Are you guys being serious? How is The Big Picture better than Lifestyles Ov da Poor & Dangerous? And The Coming is easily a classic! I think you guys have been listening too much to Young Thug. Lay off the lean! Man this site keeps getting worse and worse every year…

    32. Talking shit about my fav album WU TANG FOREVER you black sellout fat bitch. I second what the other guy said, dont leave.your crib stay yo black ass on theTwitter world and dont come out. The World is small you black sellout son of a bitch

      1. Too long and lyrically complicated for people with ADHD. Pure awesomeness for Hip Hop listeners. The track little ghetto boys will be a classic forever.

      2. … it’s the filler that makes it too long. The wack shit. The padding. If it was one disc it would have been fire.

      3. Black sellout ////Black sellout bitch///Black sellout bitch …………..Damn you one edgy motherfucker ….Yes you are

    33. HAHA Y’all mad as fuck like “Fuck Hip Hop DX!” *click* *click* “Boycott this site!” *click* click* “Fucking click bait trash!” *click* *click*

    34. This is, by far, the most real post DX has ever made. I agree with EVERY single one of these! I love all of these artists and albums, but they did, indeed, fall short of “classic” status. Respect for acknowledging what most folks are too afraid to!

    35. I don’t believe any of these albums are overrated. I think everyone knows these albums are great but not classics. BUT….. Busta rhymes – the coming is actually underrated. Too me it’s a classic mid 90s album. His best album. It’s dark, raw and busta at his best….. AND what are you smoking on Eminems Slim shady lp? Without question eminems best album. Slim shady Lp is way underrated. Now Marshall Mathers lp is arguably overrated. But not slim shady lp.

      1. Slim Shady is definitely his best album, but it’s still inconsistent af. Not a classic album, more like a competent showcase for his lyrical ability.

    36. The only problem I have with this article is…….

Some of these albums were never considered classics. I think hiphopdx is reaching here. The coming and Tical were never classics!

    37. Yea Tical is not that great and Big L The Big Picture is better than his debut……but Wu-Tang Forever is a fucking classic even with the odd miss with production its fucking epic one the best double albums ever made and the Slim Shady Lp is Eminem best album them ‘bland beats’ were perfect for him to rip up amazing album

    38. Cut Wu Tang Forever down to 13 songs it’d be one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time. I revisit it more than any wu tang album. So ahead of its time… Just too long. Do not sleep tho!!

    39. fuck this site. you people are now reviewing justin bieber albums, for fuck’s sake!
And you also have a miley cyrus article with the comments disabled because you know you’re gonna get comments like this one.
you make me sick and the genre’s been hijacked & damaged beyond repair, people like you made that happen.
fuck this site, i can’t take it seriously anymore.
you might as well review a paris hilton album and call it a classic.

    40. Gotta disagree in regards to Common’s Ressurection album. Lyrics, Flows, Beats and Subject matter are totally on point. It’s a true classic. “One Day…” was a very good album, but it’s sequencing could have been better. “Like Water…” was great, but isn’t on par with Ressurection lyrically.

    41. i Have to disagree with this list in regards to Resurrection and Black On Both Sides. Those are were great and still hold up. Wu-Tang Forever is a little bloated but DEFINITELY a high quality double album. Definitely better than All Eyez On Me which I feel is overrated.

    42. LOL none of these joints were overrated. These were pivotal records & among the best when they were released & are til to this day mainstays in plenty of circles. Who wrote this?

    43. Tical is the best of the Wu-Tang Solo albums. Even though Meth was just freestyling during most of the recording process, this album blended very well from a production perspective.

    44. I grew up with 90’s HIPHOP. Opinions about these albums are made off the history of were these artists come from and most of these albums were made form the artists’ own perspective, (except for the group albums.) This article is so wrong as it was judged as to the perception that it should be similar to what or where these artist came from or to what group they belong to. I appreciate an artist that express his own opinions and that does his/her own thing. Except for Master P and Twista, I bump these albums all the time. Slim Shady Album, TICAL, Lifestylez, Busta is part of my best playlists as it encompass true HIPHOP. These albums had their own identity and should be judged as that. I appreciate individualism and we should appreciate artists as individuals. Please do not dismiss classics like this, they are our roots. 90’s HIPHOP allday!!

    45. I just read this post written by someone called “16” from the article (Mac Miller Questions White Rap Listeners ) seeing as I always see the same racist posters time after time on this site it got me thinking .

Why is it mainly white’s only commenting on this article . Why is it predominantly the same old racists becoming defensive when anyone mentions the obvious racism in society, and the amusing thing is you people then clarify your thoughts by being racist (baffling) . It’s always the same racists Huffington Bush, Itsdareal, rekkington, Wise Old Man, . You guy’s clearly hate anyone not white . What is it that got you into hiphop ? Eminem no doubt , but he’s not exactly prolific in regards to releasing new material year after year . The overt racism for a culture that was once tagged ” Black Americas CNN” is a really weird concept . Do people who hate muslims spend their spare time listening to bhangra and trolling bhangra music websites? Do black people who hate whites spend their time race baiting on country music forums/websites ? . Genuinely intrigued as to what it is that makes you racists even engage in this culture .

      1. Im totally racist lol gtfoh sorry I dont pander to the “black way of thinking” I have my own opinion just cause I dont agree with what black people are saying doesnt make me racist it makes me an individual. Should I agree with everything that is said cause a black person said it even if I feel there dead wrong? But if I disagree with a black man im racist cause im white? Lol FUCK YOU DOGGIE! II got more Hip Hop history and knowledge in my lil white brain then you can ever conceive. So keep reachin sir. Keep blamin the white man for the worlds problems even tho the chinese run this motherfucker now but its cool us “whites” are used to it.
Thanks for the Shout Out lol

      2. Yo Mike. The psychology of white people is one of the most fascinating/entertaining things. I say entertaining because sometimes I just have to laugh at their hypocrisy and lack of self awareness. There are these two things called Cognitive Dissonance and Wilful Ignorance. These two things pretty much explains why a white person like “Itsdareal” can so obviously be racist but still be so down with black culture. There’s a blog called Abagond (just Google it, should be the first result) that will blow your mind when it comes to truly understanding white racism. Peace king.

      1. u DAMN right about that Pharcyde joint! Dudes really want to show out and are afraid to admit that this Bizzare Ryde (and TPABF) don’t really have much replay value – lyrics aside.

    46. what? The Coming is an amazing rap album straight classic from busts rhymes.also mos defs debut is a classic.not perfect but u can’t deny its impact. Eminem’s debut had aged badly.

    47. Stans firing shots from every angle. lmao . Definite reading comprehension issues in the comment section. Overrated doesn’t mean wack. Was around for all these albums, and he’s right. Only Tical, I believe, is underrated. Over the last few years, its become cliche to pan the album, even Meth said it was rushed. But its actually a great album, just pales to Liquid and Cuban Linx. As for Wu Tang forever, break that down to 14 songs and it’s one of the greatest albums ever. Eminem’s whole discography is overrated. The rest of the list is on point. Common One Day album is the masterpiece. the Mos and Big L albums are overrated but still very dope.

    48. Hey, there is nothing wrong with making a list like this and it brings a whole lot of discussion. People need to break down why they disagree instead of saying “hiphopdx is fucked up” and then leave. People should give their list if they know hip hop.

      For me,

Method Man Tical was one of the best Wu solo albums but was too short. I felt ODB and Ironman were highly overrated.

Big L’s album was actually underrated. After he released shit with Rawkus and passed away, people jumped on his dick.

Resurrection was Common’s best album without a doubt and people weren’t checkin for him til Like Water For Chocolate. That and Mos’ Black On Both Sides took a few listens though to get a taste for them. They weren’t bangers from the get-go but after I got used to them and couldn’t get enough. Similar to albums like OK’s Stress: The Extinction Agenda.

Wu-Tang Forever had fillers and would have been better as one album. It was one of those sophomore albums like Raekwon’s 2nd joint and It Was Written that I remembered being pissed off and the inconsistency and horrible production.

    50. Good article. I Think it’s on point. These albums had the potential to be much better than they were. And as stated in the beginning “”overrated” and “wack” aren’t the same thing”. People, read the article thoroughly before starting the hate.

    51. A Good List, there is definitely a point about fans waxing over nostalgic about 90’s releases, when there’s just as much dope albums coming out today if you look for it. BUT, no one said Wu-Tang Forever was a perfect album, and when it’s good you’ve got some of the best rhymes ever on there. The intro on disc 2 into Triumph – Impossible – Little Ghetto Boys… that shit is ridiculous.

      1. There’s more wack rappers now than the 90‘s.For every dope rapper now, there’s at least 20 wack ones. Nobodys saying there isn’t a few dope rappers out now.Now = 90% wack rappers 5% dope rappers.90‘s = 90% dope rappers and 5% wack rappers.Even dope new era rappers be saying hip hop’s wack now compared to the 90‘s.Listen to jon connors “new slaves”…first verse for proof

    52. So many better albums did come out in the 90’s but werent as popular. I can name 10 underground 90’s albums that are probably better then these 10 so what the fuck ever. Its HipHopDx what donyou expect from a Canandian hip hop site

    53. Dumb. Some of these weren’t even that highly acclaimed. The Source was not the know all tell be all. Some are still hot like the Wu, Common, Em, Mos Def & Busta. BUt the others still had singles that get bang forever

    54. List was obviously made by a sodomite or a MF Doom fan (which is even worse)

Who the fuck overrates The Coming? Adrenaline Rush? Ghetto D? LMAO fuck outta here bitch

    55. Did you really include the Slim Shady LP???????????

Are you saying “If I Had” and “Rock Bottom” are “bland and forgettable” beats?

      Wake the fuq up DX

    56. I don’t think anybodys dumb enough to think an albums a classic just because it was made in the 90’s.Most of the albums on this list, still shit on 90% of new 2010’s albums.

    57. When most people/publications talk about classic 90‘s hip hop albums, most of the albums on that list don’t get mentioned anyway lol there’s PLENTY albums from the 90‘s way better than some of the albums on that list

    58. Havent been on this site in a while but I came on here this morning to see if it had any new music different from hip hop early. I just happened to see this on the home page…… clicked on it and started to read…………. After I instantly got a headache I started laughing, shook my head and decided after I comment about how fucked up this article is I will do what I actually came to dowhich is try to find some new music to burn then im never comin back to this site again lol….. I mean really? ghetto d. I could probably name 90% of the song titles and i havent heard the shit front to back in years. CLASSIC!……. I mean really? Adrenaline rush. How yall talkin bout lyrics when it come to twista. Back then you didnt criticize niggas for what they had to say if it was what you get from that artist. when i listened to twista I wanted to hear some shit like “One morning Iiiiii woke up next to a thick bitch took a shower dried off brushed the gold teeth like slick rick” Feel me! That nigga had that playa typa style that a nigga like me wanted hear when I was a young boy and could only dream of havin that life and he had that fast talk so if you wanted game you had to keep up ya hear me. I could go in on a couple of the other ones like em and mos def but I feel like a nerd typin this long lol. Dueces

    59. Damn… I LOVED and still bump Ghetto D. But I’m from New Orleans and bought the CD when it first came out, in ’98 when Blockbuster still sold CD’s. That shit was in an orange plastic case; not the crystal cases you normally see albums in. One of my favorite albums of the ’90s. Along with SSLP. Those 2 albums for some reason stick out to me the most. Oh, that Big L joint was dope. Very similar to Slim’s first album. No direction with production and not consistent, but the lyrical prowess was there. If Big L would’ve lived on, he would be continued to get better and raise the bar for these non lyrical rappers.

    60. I still bump Tical, Wu-Tang Forever, and Black on both sides (occasionally) till this DAY! Thx to this list, I’m reminded that I should add the DOPE Busta’s The Coming and Common’s Russurrection to the list.

So THANKS FUCKED UP ARTICLE!…. some good has come of you yet.

    61. Only one I agree with here is the Mos Def album. Sad to say, he has never really made a great album solo. Black Star is a classic though. Some of the others on this list aren’t really hyped up like Ghetto D or Twista – no one talks about those anymore. I never really heard anyone say Ghetto D was a classic even when it came out. I think Tical is great, but not classic. I don’t think it should be included hear, though, because it generally gets more hate than it deserves. Wu-Tang Forever is a muthafuckin’ CLASSIC. Every one of those 27 songs is incredible and is the culmination of the Wu at their best. Unfortunately, to me it represents the end of an era. The last true Wu classic. Nothing that came after was up to par with what came before. Also, the Slim Shady LP is Em’s best album and I would consider it a classic.

    62. Man, you have Wu-Tang Forever, Mos Def Black On Both Sides, and Eminem The Slim Shady LP on an “overrated” list. Which makes the like automatically invalid as fuck. I’m sure you knew what you were doing when you put such bullshit out; get people to click on your shit and debate…. Great job.

    63. Waiting to see ya’ll do a 2010‘s overrated hip hop albums list. With all those wack lyrics and tin pan, weak beats hahaha

    64. Mos’ debut album is an underground classic and far from overrated. Ghetto D is definitely Master P’s most celebrated album and is a dirty south classic.

    65. I’m going to say u did this for complex or somebody, don’t sacrifice the credibility of your site for fickle clicks. . It’s real hip hop heads that look at this site. . Don’t be dumbasses u know this was trashy. . Carry on culture not bullshit… btw I didn’t b read it anyway I knew it was troll I wanted to see your list

    66. Wow. You had to be young and there when these dropped . I waited in line to get Wu Tang Clan Forever when it dropped at midnight. This list is trash. Love the clickbait tactic though.

    67. Seems obvious whoever wrote this article really doesn’t like wu-tang lol… i agree with master P, but i think more of those no limit record albums from that whole camp should have taken more spots on this list, as well as eminems recovery album

    68. meth 1st album was never praised by the critics. wu tang forever had a lot of hype surrounding it but nobody ever confused it with a 36 chambers. big l’s album had been in the making for a while when it came out and the production sounded dated, but all true rap fans recognized that he was a pure talent. common’s second album came out of nowhere and surprised everybody. it did carry some filler but it contained some gems that stood the test of time. the slim shady lp contains a few songs that haven’t aged as well as others but you can’t deny the brilliance, especially for a first album. black on both sides isn’t the flawless masterpiece that some were expecting at the time but it still shits on 99% of what’s released today. not sure why the coming is on this list, and i never listened to those other albums so no opinion there. i think this whole editorial was more of an air ball than a brick.

    69. This is the worst hip hop article I’ve ever read and I’ve been going on Allhiphop.com, sohh.com, and hiphopdx.com. This is the kind of article your company uses as filler and you fucked up. Because this article doesn’t make a lick of sense. How did Eminem, Mos Def, Common, and Big L make it on this list? I challenge the integrity and hip hop knowledge and history of the writer of this article and would be more than willing to argue the point. And if he’s a good writer he’d bet his own job on it. I can think of about 100 better filler lists you could put up than this negativity spreading, inaccurate, and completely pathetic piece of “news”. Where was Bone Thugs Art of War on here? Or Dmx first album? Your telling me
It is Dark and Hell is Hot and the Miseducation of Lauren Hill are far superior to Eminem”s debut and Big L? Are you fucking stupid? I didn’t see Hard Knock Life vol.1 on this list and I don’t know a single person who’s bumped that over hyped album. Wouldn’t catch me dead bumping ” can I get a” or any of those songs now adays. Frankly I can’t even continue because there is too much to say. Now will the real writer please stand up and go bury yourself and your pen in a fucking hole? Hiphopdx contact me if you need a writer, and if you don’t want me I can find any half ass hobo on the street who can probably compose something at least more interesting and compelling in its writing than this shit. Did he write it with a crayon on a napkin while he was chilling with his Bros at Weenie Hut Junior or what, my g?

    70. And another thing you ignorant moron. The Bass Brothers beats weren’t forgettable. Only forgettable to people who are busy filling their head with nothing but Kanye West and any other producer you can dick ride in hopes of an interview or a shout out. Pull out the drums and prepare the funeral, Hip Hop Dx’s credibility has just died.

    71. If you can decide someone is racist by reading a comment they left on a hip hop website then you are some kind of fucking genius. You think I give a fuck what you think about white people? I dont give two shits or one fuck for that matter. I grew up in Cali born and raised I met my fair shre of embred white trash bigots in my lifetime but the only racial hatred ive received personally as a white man in America have been from racist ass black people and native americans so again FUCK YOU eat another big mexican cock while you read more bullshit sterotypes on the internet you fuckin fake ass Malcom X bitch lol

      1. Dude calm the fuck down whats wrong with you .You are the dumb ass who seems to be full of prejudice and racism whenever I see you post on one of HHDX legendary click bait racist articles . Man the fuck up and stand by your principles . Why is he trying to be Malcom X what because he asked why do a lot of the racist posters you included spend so much time on a hiphop website when they clearly seem to hate non whites ? You are just coming across as a typical low IQ shit for brains typical racist . Why the fuck are you telling him to eat BIG “your thing no doubt” mexican dick what the fuck has that got to do with anything angry old FUCKING racist

      2. What did I ever say that was “racist”?Give me one quote! You dont have none this motherfucker just sayd im racist cause im “white” and commenting on a hip hop webite so automatically my views and opinions dont have any “validity” cause im not “black” and “from tha hood” so obviously I cant relate to anything that involves hip hop which was started by black people but now spawns all races colors and creeds but fuck the oppresive white man and his bullshit comments right? What the fuck does some dumb cracka honkey know about hip hop right? Cause that was the topic of discussion but of course you gotta bring race into it right cause thats the main point of the article? I thought it was about overrated hip hop albums I guess I was wrong cause im white and dont know shit lol

      3. Lolol yeah Kennyken my bad didnt know you were the Hiphopdx ambassador of all things “race related” you can call me “racist” whatever you want. Like I said im used to it in this site. Racism derives from hatred and I dont hate anyone especially a whole fuckin race. I stand by my Krs comments and the other “so-called racist” comments you say I made. It was in a light hearted manner but obviously cause im white your offened by anything I say about black people I guess. There is hatred and envy all over these comment boards and I dont condone or approve of it but im also not gonna be a pussy and bite me tounge cause I might offend some “over sensitive” black dude that obviously cant stand white people. Nice to know racism isnt just from them dang ole devilish white folk. Go back and read the Mac Miller page, its riddled with people hating on white people but no one gives a fuck about white people or when they get racial attacked cause there white and are blamed for all the problems and injustices in the world. There aint shit you can say I aint heard before so keep tryin to put labels on people you dont know. But you are DEAD WRONG. Thanks for your concern though. Im sure your just tryin to “help me out” lol
        #whitelivesmatter jk lol

      4. Lolol your are lost bro. Just cause you call someone a racist doesnt mean they are. I dont have to prove shit to you or anyone. Its sad cause you seem some what intelligent but you have some fucked up concept of the world around you. I know your mad cause im white and I listen to hip hop and I got a dick bigger then most black people and I rap better then most black people I can see where the hate and envy stem from. You want to be me so bad. I feel sorry for you bro. So caught up with what the white man says on the old hip hop site. Yikes. Just live your life bro. You gonna come in here everytime some one white says something about hip hop? You obviously have more free time then I do. Maybe try getting a job and getting off the streets bro. Then you wont be so depressed and mad the world. Just my opinon but hey its your life Kennyken lol

      5. The old white devil has spoken! According to Kennyken all white people are fuckin ugly honkey white devil racist bigots. Lol Funny thing is race was never brought up in this convo till the “black man” replied with his racist ass comments then tryed to single out white people to confront and accuse of being racist just to try to justify your own hate and racism. Well guess what Kennyken. Im white, smarter and cooler then you’ll ever be so nice try you fuckin racist piece of shit but you aint gettin over on me playa. I got too much street smarts and just knowledge of the world in general to fall for your “racial bait trap” so keep hating white people and calling white people racist at the same time cause you make no sense and look and sound like a total fucking moron btw. Get a clue. Go get some white pussy. It tastes better then that old nasty black pussy anyway. Now t theres some racist shit for you buddy. I hope your happy now jk lo

      6. Cause kennyken is so white. This motherfucker is whiter then Napoleon Dynamite sleeping naked on a pile of cocaine. Dude we know your not white. The fact that you cant admit your race just says alot about your integrity and you charecter. You get so offended by “white devil” why cause thats what blacks call whites and you dont want to bring that shit up huh? Oh yeah you forgot that black people are racist also but never did you mention that. This honey ass jive cracka must be from the 70’s cause he usin all them juve ass cracka slang lol I was born in 79′ you fuckin lame. Keep acting like black do no wrong and white people are evil. I dont give a fuck what you think personally its just entertaining seeing a person like yourself with so much hate but doesnt have the balls to own up to it. Thats sad and pathetix Kennyken. We know you hate white people just own up to that shit bro. Own your racism towards us honkey crackas we will respect you more if you do gangsta ass Kennyken lol
        #Puppylivesmatter

      7. Firstly Itsdareal …..Stop with this bullshit trying to justify your racism (black dude that obviously cant stand white people)
Dude you are full of FUCKING assumptions how the fuck do you no what color I am ? Secondly YOU do not represent the whole CAUCASIAN race thank fuck for that . Next you’ll be saying YOUNGTHUG represents all BLACKS lol not all blacks, mixed race , white people are the same, some are educated, and some are not like you . No disrespect dude but you’re old and stuck in your ways .One last thing please stop with this whole 70s WHITE DEVILISH bs it just dates you to the 70s only old folks talk like that WHITE DEVILS you’re like a 60s 70s cliche it’s fucking CRINGEY and embarrassing please you have no power ,you are not part of the 1% I doubt you know what that means lol….you’re just an angry old dude whose been socially engineered (google it ) to believe that all blacks are after you and all blacks are the same REALITY CHECK it’s not the 60s 70s or 80s anymore . O yeah I don’t know why you put #whitelivesmatter jk lol” ….Because whitelives also matter stuck in the 70s 80s old ass racist never left his state in over 40 years .lmao ….PS because you are transparent I mean mentally not ethnically before you get confused and start foaming at the mouth I guarantee your next response if you post back will be to focus on this part of my comment (do you no what color I am) Seriously dude whether i’m black or white your way of thinking is becoming more and more redundant/outdated !

      8. LMAO … Dude seriously, I nearly pissed myself ..You really need to get out more I just googled Itsdareal hiphopdx and there are over 6 fucking pages indexed full of your angry and WEIRD rants . It’s like a glimpse into your sad little life fuck me it sucks 🙂 . Please for the love of god, go out and meet a girl or boy whatever is your thing … OK back to this (Give me one quote!) lmao dude these are just two of your crazy rants .. (P.s Krs looks like a gorilla at the petting zoo) *and* (If we could get some blunts and KFC to all these black inmates there lives would be so much better)Trust me their are more I just cant be bothered to wade through more of your crazy rants … Seriously you are suffering from some kind of mental deficiency . HE NEVER SAID BECAUSE SOMEONE WHITE POSTS ON AN HIP HOP SITE THEY ARE RACIST.. In fact I just read his post and he said ABOUT YOU ( no doubt you know a lot about hiphop) seriously how the fuck does that comment upset or confuse you ? Dude seriously get a life you seem torn between loving hiphop and hating black people .Just make your mind up either way ..lol, I bet you like black girls too .

    72. Most of these albums are from new york, some mid west and one southern. None are from the west coast at all. Not alot of diversity.

      1. Firstly thanks for replying genuinely appreciated . Just a couple of things firstly I never said you should agree with what every black person has to say . That would be a really dumb thing to do no matter the color of the persons skin . Intrigued by the fact that you think there is such a thing as a “black way of thinking” you do realize that not every black male thinks the same for example I think if you sat down and spoke to Young Thug you would find that his views are not the same as Nas and The Games views are probably different form those of Lupe and Lupes views are probably different from Meek etc etc . Itsdareal the same way that white’s can have different personalities outlooks on life believe it or not blacks are able to also do the same . Also I never said anything about your hiphop knowledge no doubt you know a lot about hiphop I genuinely think you do. In fact that baffles me even more . Finally know ONE or me at least is blaming you for the worlds problems . No disrespect but you’re just a small cog in the system . PS you asked me the following question when you replied on the Mac Miller article ( Btw “16” is that your age? It sounds like it lol Just keep bumpin that Drake doggie lolol) …. Yes i’m 16 and in all honesty I think the fact that you use the word Doggie not only dates you as in your 30s but even more depressingly you talk like a 14 year old teenager trying to sound street !! Have a good day sir .

    75. Except Mos Def and Common’s albums which are classics to me, I must admit that I can’t listen to the others without skipping some tracks (wu 4ever is way too long with dispensable tracks, meth’s tical is far from Rae or GZA 1st Lp perfection and Busta’s the coming is very good but definitely not a classic mostly because of a lazy production)
      Eminem, twista are just average
Master P… lol, when I was 20 in the mid 90’s the guy was totally wack… And it didn’t change 20 years later

    76. That nigga said Masta P ‘s album was a southen classic….. hahahahaha that fool is DELUSIONAL…. Masta P is T R A S H! But so is most southern hip hop!

    77. Can we have a list wit overrated millenium rappers like: Game, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Drake, Big Sean, Kanye West, Young Jeezy, Lil Wack, Young Wack???????

    78. This is the stupidest article i have read in the hip hop who is this guy.Hip hop dx must this for view extremely disappointing

    79. this article is some shit lol.. i can understand lifestyles ov da poor & dangerous being considered “overrated”, but thats still kinda tacky.. but aside from that, everything here seems accurately rated (outside of this website anyway) tical, black on both sides, slim shady, really? those are all classic records.. did y’all listen to the same records i did? lmfao

    80. Wu-Tang Forever is arguably the best double album in rap. Up there with All Eyez on Me and Life After Death. Fck this list.

    81. This is the dumbest article I have ever read. No one was listening to Master P for his standout lyricism. I played this album back in the day the same way I knock that Future DS2 – it just sounds great coming out of good speakers. No the Meth or 2nd Wu album aren’t as good as Ready To Die, Enter the 36, or The Chronic… because those are 3 of the best Hip Hop albums EVER. That’s like saying Kevin Durant sucks because he’s not Michael Jordan or Lebron James. Twista has never put together a full cohesive project – plus Mobstability was better and more hailed than adrenaline rush. Common, Mos Def, and Big L put together masterful projects that hold well to this day. Onto Eminem… the fuck outta here. The Slim Shady LP holds up today as easily one of the best albums of the 90s. It goes back to when Em was fun to listen to and not the new Em that attempts to recreate “Lose Yourself” over and over and over again.

    82. The masses decide what a classic is, not an individual person.

The masses have spoken and these all classics.

    83. wtf those article are BAIT to get attention! Try to make a fucking record before telling people complete bullcrap about it

    84. I wasn’t crazy about Lifestyles of da poor & dangerous. Only 2 songs stuck out to me, everything else was forgettable. Tho I think Eminem is overrated that and Infinite are his albums to me

    85. While this is obviously a troll list, how about coming up with a list of under appreciated gems from the 90s? Blahzay Blahzay, Real Live, Smooth da Hustler, Boot Camp, etc… Ya know, celebrate the culture as opposed to just pissing off your readers.

    86. YALL CAN SUCK A HUGEDICK WITH THE VEINS BUSTIN OUT…..MASTER P IS GARBAGE PERIOD…& I WASNT A FAN OF BIG L’S ALBUM….BUT THE REST OF THE LIST IZ CLASSIC MATERIAL…YALL CAN SUCK A DIRTY DICK

    87. Ahahahahahahaha this is the worst list!!!! Forever?? the Coming??? resurrection???? Black on both sides??? Whoever wrote this is either young or wasn’t listening to hip hop in the 90s. The problem with lists like this is that young or new fans believe it.

    88. I think I started messing with HIPHOP DX originally for new singles and/or mixtapes. Apart from that, it does seem as if EVERY article I ever took the time to read (with an open mind) read as if a grade school kid wrote it. It surprises me that they didn’t put a Biggie or Pac album on that list. Also it came as NO SURPRISE, whatsoever that they put SlimShady LP in this list. I think the biggest shocker was FOREVER. What a fcking joke of a list. I knew some greats would be on here, WHEN they felt the need to explain that “overrated& wack aren’t the same thing” HAHAHAHA! I don’t mean to be so harsh but DAMN, who let this list get thru may very well be as bad if not worse than the author of this. SMDH!

    89. My name is William Ketchum III, and I came up with the worst and least popular article about 90s rap ever. If I still have a job next year in writing i’ll be damned lucky.

    90. Why would you even write an article like this? Remember when HHDX was clowning on Billboard’s Rapper list being trolling?

    91. This is bullshit and whomever wasted his time putting up this list should be fired from the magazine, get your history up man

    92. Don’t be talking shit about big l
Lifestyles of poor and dangerous is raw af. Same with slim shady love. Certain rappers don’t need glossy production when they’re lyricism can carry a project. The problem with a lot of new eminent joints is that they’re overproduced.

    93. Lol this article was written to draw traffic and comments because they knew it would butthurt emotional fans and… it worked!!!

    94. I just wanted to say the fact that you considered the slim shady LP overrated makes your opinion in regards to hiphop null and void. Put that album and the WU tang’s double album next to 99% of the hiphop albums that have come out in the past 5 years and it will stand up to the majority of albums you’ve purchased or bootlegged .
And like someone said below the fact you even put Big L is kind of crass and proves that you are just playing the controversial card .I get it WILLIAM KETCHUM III it’s good for your career as a freelance hiphop writer to be able to court controversy and at your next interview you can boast that one of your recent articles generated x amount of ad dollars from page views (I use adblock by the way ..No adsense dollars from me ) . William I bet you even considered putting Big and Nas illmatic in there but realised that really would be reaching . PS did you start to really engage in hiphop when Kanye first dropped in 2004

    95. To all those who have “lost respect for DX”, clue me in if you will; what was respectable about this website to begin with? The shit*y click bait like this, or the typo littered articles?

      1. True that! I think I started messing with them just because of the singles it has on it. Apart from that, it does seem as if EVERY article I ever took the time to read (with an open mind) read as if one grade school kid wrote it. It surprises me that they didn’t put a Biggie or Pac album on that list. Also it came as NO SURPRISE, whatsoever that they put SlimShady LP in this list. I think the biggest shocker was FOREVER. What a fcking one of a list. I knew some greats would be on here, when they felt the need to explain that “overrated& wack aren’t the same thing”

    96. Article Title that immediate invokes curiosity with expectations of anger: check
Selection of (artists/albums/songs) that have cult followings and rabid fans: check
Nitpicking based on simple personal preferences instead of real musical criticism and then blown out of proportion and stretched into a paragraph presenting only one side: check
Another Great (Complex/DX/RandomBlog) Article is complete!!!

      1. Critics are just as full of shit and bias as anybody else. They are just lucky enough to get paid for their opinions. Music taste is about as subjective as you can get and music critics are not exempt from that.

    97. Your list is garbage. And your preface of just because it’s overrated doesn’t mean it’s not great makes no sense. We’re you under pressure to meet a deadline and you just decided to try and taint great albums? Just throw out whatever came into your head without actually doing research? Very disappointing. Your opinion can’t be trusted.

    98. With the inclusion of Wu-tang Forever and that first Slim Shady, William Ketchum III has just solidified himself as troll hiding behind the label of journalist. You can’t be serious dude. That Slim Shady Album better than some of the bullshit hitting 20 years later…smfh

    99. Method Man, Tical (1994) by far the biggest album from the East Coast Gold Era, along with Wu-Tang Clan, Wu-Tang Forever (1997), to claim anything different you’re either from Atlanta or Mars. The rest on this list cannot be discussed given the fact I agree ????????????????????

    100. Somebody need to pull a random drug test are your offices, because whomever made this list is clearly under the influence of mind altering substances

    101. I’ve always agreed that SSLP was way overrated. Most of the songs were decent on their own merit, with a few exceptions like “My Fault” and “come on everybody”, but the album was somehow less than the sum of its parts. Maybe if he ended up dropping something wack after that album I wouldn’t see it that way, but the cohesion and overall perfectness of MMLP and TES are far beyond that of SSLP.

      1. Well said. SSLP was a good debut album, just not the greatest that some claim. MMLP and TES make it look extremely weak especially next to the production and lyrics.
