It’s Alive. Not just the D.C.-Maryland-Virginia Hip Hop scene, but Mz Streamz career. Earlier this week, the Bmore native released her debut mixtape, produced by Aaron LaCrate and Debonair Samir, and hosted by Crooklyn Clan’s Fat Man Scoop. This is the same songwriter-turned-emcee that had to be retired from battling on 92Q after winning for five weeks straight. Although retired from the battle contest, Streamz’ reign is just beginning.
The Milkcrate Records artist features Gorillaz, Lily Allen and DJ Class on It’s Alive, and she speaks to HipHopDX about the Go-Go elements within her music, as well as where she hopes to go. A lady in an interview, and a bully on the microphone, Streamz shows and proves why she may be oceans apart from the competition.

The Journey As A Female Carrying Baltimore: “It’s actually been rough and very rocky along the way. A lot of people already have their own picks and favorites. It’s hard to get them to jump on your band-wagon, and like you and stick with you the whole way. It hasn’t been easy, but now that I have people rocking with me it’s been way better.”
Lessons For The Road: “It’s taught me a lot. You can never rest. As soon as you think that you have it all figured out someone else is waiting to come up from behind you and take your place. You can never sleep you have to stay humble and stay working.”
Rhyming Over Go-Go-Inspired Tracks: “I think it’s really important because I represent the DMV, and I want to represent every sound as best as I can. I want to hit every aspect of music, and touch all genres.”
Getting Fat Man Scoop For The It’s Alive Mixtape: “He actually ended up hearing some of my music and he just really liked it, so he agreed to host my mixtape. I haven’t even had the chance to meet him yet but I will real soon.”
What To Expect: “What listeners should expect is a great mix, and a large variety of different types of music. Expect to experience a lot of different styles of the mixtape. It’s going to have rapping slow and rapping fast and singing. There are songs over Go-Go beats and club beats. You’re going to really get to listen to me, and see where I’m coming from.”
Identity: “My Identity is about making good music. I don’t have to have a gimmick, and show a lot of different things to get the attention. I’m a pretty girl, naturally, so I don’t have to jump out there, and be all exposed to make people notice my music. I represent women of Rap and I definitely want to bring that back. I don’t want to be known for the sex.”
Is It Harder To Get On Or Stay On?: “I feel that there is more pressure to get on, especially as a woman. You have to go through so much just to fit in. You have to be a certain size, or have a certain look, or whatever and it’s just hard. You just have to be willing to go hard, and get out there and get yours.”
Worries Over Sales: “Yes, I am concerned but I’m sure that my fans love me enough, and I know that I give them what they want enough to get the sales I need.”
What People Would Be Shocked To Know: “People would be very surprised to learn that I’m actually a really nice person. I know my lyrics can be hardcore and gritty, but once you get to know me and learn my personality, you will see that I’m a very cool person.”
