Hip Hop Remy Ma

Remy Ma is a native of Bronx, NY who was discovered by the late Big Pun and came to become one of the most lyrically well-respected female emcees of the 22nd century. Her prowess allowed her to easily blend in with the male-dominated Terror Squad and more than hold her own. Her first studio album appearances were on Big Pun’s Yeeeah Baby on “Ms. Martin” and “You Was Wrong” under the name Remy Martin. Her appearance on the “Ante Up (Remix)” exemplified her signature cadence and lyrical enunciation. After the death of Big Pun in 2000, Fat Joe would sign Remy to Terror Squad. She was on the clique’s second album titled True Story in 2004 and would earn her first Grammy nomination for her feature on Fat Joe’s “Lean Back.” Her then long-awaited debut album, There’s Something About Remy: Based on a True Story, was released in 2006. Remy would release three mixtapes, BX Files, Shesus Khryst and Blasremy, while incarcerated for a shooting at a New York City nightspot. After serving seven years in prison, Remy Ma would release I’m Around in 2014, followed by the mixtape compilation Remy On The Rocks the following year. She would join the cast of Love & Hip Hop: New York that same year, along with her husband Papoose. She and Pap would also appear in their own series Remy & Papoose: Meet the Mackies as well as several other reality television specials. Remy would release a joint offering with Fat Joe called Plata O Plomo. The lead single from the offering was “All the Way Up,” her most critically acclaimed song and commercially successful song to date. It was not only certified platinum but garnered her two Grammy nominations as well. Remy released 7 Winters, 6 Summers in November 2017. “Wake Me Up” (featuring Lil’ KIm) was the lead single. Remy Ma has worked with the likes of Fat Joe, Big Pun, French Montana, A. Boogie, Mariah Carey, Da Brat, Ty Dolla $ign and many others.
