After dropping his vocals on “My Life”, a hot collaboration with Styles of the Lox, Pharoahe Monch is ready to unleash “The Sun Will Rise”, a follow up to his debut album “Internal Affairs”. With this album Pharoahe plans to show a lighter side to his style than what he feels “Internal Affairs” showcased. “I feel that “Internal Affairs” was murky and I needed to get some evil stories and some aggression out”, he said. This album (The Sun Will Rise) is the repercussions and the aftermath of me airing all these things out. My mission is for people to be like ‘OK he not afraid. You can tell he’s having fun”.
So far, the Megahertz, DJ Scratch and Rockwilder have handled production on the album among others. Currently Pharoahe Monch has his eye on Black Thought, Jaguar Wright and Raphael Saadiq to make guest appearances on his album. Although he notes these few guest appearances as people he would love to work with, he plans on keeping the number of people featured on this album lower than the first. “Right now I’m trying to hold it down by myself purposely because there were so many guest on the last one”, he explained.
As for the collabo with Jadakiss, Pharoahe wants hip-hop heads to keep their ear to the streets. “We’re talking about doing the remix right now”, he said. “I love to stay unpredictable. Everybody wants me to spit on it, but I might not. That would be more shocking”. No word has been given on the release date of Pharoahe’s album due to the fact that his record label Rawkus Records, is still working on their distribution deal through MCA.
